The Costa del Sol region

The Costa del Sol stretches along 150 km of Malaga Province and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations with plenty on offer for every type of visitor. The area attracts visitors primarily for its wonderful climate, boasting over 300 days of sunshine annually. Another of its main attractions is its beaches, from quiet, hidden coves to expansive and family-friendly sandy beaches abounding with beach bars (“chiringuitos”), to its more trendy stretches of sand with fashionable beach clubs populated by world-wide celebrities and trendsetters.

Golfers are really spoilt for choice with at least 50 golf courses in the area and approximately 1 of those within 5 minutes walk of the VillaThis region is also referred to as the “Costa del Golf”.

Less well known but definitely worth a visit are the many stunning national parks around Malaga province which offer countless adventurous activities.

Malaga which has reinvented itself in recent years as a cultural and gastronomic centre with a buzzing contemporary arts scene. Justifiably proud of its world famous Picasso Museum as well as its top-class tapas bars and restaurants, its night-life is as vibrant and interesting as the more famous centres of Marbella and Puerto Banus on the western side of the coast, and far more affordable too. It has to be said that venturing away from the usual tourist destinations can be rewarding since food, drink, and local goods tend to be more authentic and reasonably priced.

Away from the coast there are some fabulous day trips to the great Moorish cities of Seville, Cordoba and Granada, which also boasts the Sierra Nevada mountain range where skiers and snowboarders can enjoy an extended winter ski season. Within a 30 minute drive, you will find the glitzy jet-set spots of Marbella and Puerto Banus with their more international feel. Marbella offers well maintained beaches and long esplanades with entertainment for all the family; its famous "Old Town" is located in the centre enticing you into the narrow shaded cobbled streets with their whitewashed houses ordained with hanging flower baskets and the small squares (“plazas”) containing fountains and exotic trees. Puerto Banus with its luxury yachts and boutiques and great choice of alfresco bars, piano bars, discos and nightclubs for chilling, people watching or partying late into the night, is the place to see and be seen. Located behind Puerto Banus is the bullring with its immensely popular Saturday street market where you can pick up all kinds of bargains.

Slightly further west from Puerto Banus and set inland from the fishing village charms of San Pedro, the historic mountain town of Ronda is also an easy day trip and a must-visit. Home to Spain's very first bullring, it is steeped in history from its many military occupations and set amongst some truly impressive scenery. For the more adventurous, a 15km ferry trip across the Straits of Gibraltar brings you to the exotic appeals of Tangier in Morocco or even just enjoy a dolphin and whale watching trip in the Straits.

Or you can simply get into the car and drive inland, where you will find endless fabulous driving roads with the most stunning scnenery. Drive up to the Undiscovered Lakes of El Chorro and you will think you are in Switzerland, Miles and miles of turquoise blue lakes surounded by trees. Here you can swim, picnic and just simply relax,

Mijas Costa

This area provides the ideal base for enjoying your holiday and exploring the surrounding areas such as the pretty seaside village of La Cala de Mijas, still reminiscent of its tiny fishing village origins and which buzzes with activity on market days.La Cala beach which stems for several KMs has now been awarded a blue flag beach for its cleanliness and safeness. La Cala, along with many other areas, celebrates its own festivals ("fiestas") such as the annual fair in July when the village enjoys a week of festivities, when you can sample the traditional sherry, wines and tapas and take in the local lmusic and flamenco dancing.Every Wedensday and Saturday there is the local market, where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables just picked that morning, or buy some fabulous hand made souvenirs to take home.

Close by are the larger centres of Fuengirola and Benalmadena which offer a diverse array of activities, restaurants, bars and shopping. In Fuengirola Cycles tracks now all round the town and along the beach front, bikes can easily be hired.

The pretty, unspoiled Marina at Cabopina is an ideal spot to sit and just watch the world go by, here, there are fabulous sand dunes,m great for the children

The typical Ändalucian “white village” of Mijas Pueblo is set against a stunning mountain backdrop and is well worth a visit, with its narrow cobbled streets and intersting cafes and typical of the region, restsurants. Take the children on a famous donkey trip round the Pueblo or watch the chocolate being made at Mayanne Monkey Chocolate Factory, Dine and Dance at the famous Valparaiso Restaurant, Mijas.

"Upmarket and clean"

I loved this villa. It is definitely somewhere I would stay again.

Very clean and upmarket. Not much going on in the complex but you don't need it as we had everything we wanted in the villa.

It is best to hire a car for local amenities.

Lovely villa in a nice quiet setting. 2 minutes walk to a lovely beach and very easy to catch a bus to the local markets. The villa was very clean with fresh bedlinen and towels. The garden has a large swimming pool cleaned every few days by the local friendly pool cleaner. The owners are friendly and nothing is to much trouble for them. I had a fantastic holiday.

,Ian and I are so happy you enjoyed our villa and had a great holiday, this makes it all worthwhile, thank you for taking such good care of the villa. regards Carol

"The most perfect holiday ever"

I was lucky enough to come across this great villa when looking for somewhere to base ourselves for a friend's birthday celebrations in and around Marbella. We loved it so much that we've now visited twice! Second visit was much more relaxing as we only left the villa a few times to go shopping and to have lunch out. It's very close to the beach but we preferred to stay home.
The pool area is what I loved most. It has been so well thought out. relaxing there, under the palms, feet in the pool, looking up at the blue sky - utter bliss. Great pool dining area too. And bar!
House was perfect and we'd struggle to fault it in any way. We love to cook and the kitchen didn't disappoint.
It's a perfect place for a chill out relaxing change of scene.
