Sandy Beach Holiday Rental Apartment has three bedrooms: one master suite with a queen-size bed (double), one guest room with two queen-size bunk beds, and a daybed on the terrace that sleeps two. The terrace converts into a fully-enclosed room with air conditioning, blackout curtains, and a foldaway glass covering. The master bathroom includes a double sink, a bathtub, and a shower. The shared bathroom has a mosaic tile shower and Italian marble counter tops and walls.

The self-catering holiday rental apartment is located on the 2st floor, or what is referred to as the 3nd floor in Northern Europe and the US. The 35 square meter balcony/terrace has a large section enclosed with a glass wall, that can easily be slid to one side, to open the entire area up to the sun. For the winter evenings, the glass can be put in place, and the terrace be fully enjoyed, with heaters, if necessary.
The private SPA is located on the terrace, out of view from the rest of the units, for a more private experience.
The Costa del Sol region
The Costa del Sol ("Sun Coast" or, more literally, "Coast of the Sun") is a region in the south of Spain, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is comprised of the coastal towns and communities along the Mediterranean coastline of the Málaga province. With approximately 340 days of sun a year, it is no wonder the region got its name. The Costa del Sol is situated between two lesser known costas: Costa de la Luz and Costa Tropical. Formerly made up only of a series of small, quiet fishing settlements, the region has been transformed during the latter part of the 20th century, into a tourist destination of world renown.
Historically its population lived in the fishing villages, and in the "white" villages a little distance inland, in the mountains running down to the coast. The area was discovered and developed to meet the demands of international tourism in the 1950s and has since been a popular destination for foreign tourists not only for its beaches but also for its local culture. The area is particularly famous for its towns like Marbella, which provides the Costa del Sol with its reputation for being a playground for its super-rich and famous visitors.
With so much on your doorstep you will never tire of things to do either with or without a car. La Cala de Mijas still has that small town charm and feel, yet the refinement and amenities of a modern town. Every Wednesday and Saturday you can walk to the local market within 10 minutes, where you can purchase anything from local fresh produce, clothing, jewellery, and everything else including the kitchen sink.
There are Irish Bars, English Bars and authentic Spanish Bars to choose from, all within a few blocks of each other. You will find restaurants from all corners of the globe and retail stores up and down the narrow, quaint cobble stone streets. A 10 minute walk will take you to the beautiful La Cala de Mijas playa with miles of the Costa del Sol’s finest sand. For your own little Jack Sparrow, a pirate ship playground is located along the beach-walk promenade, a big hit with the kids, if you can drag them away from the inviting, warm Mediterranean ocean. Two convenience grocery stores are within easy walking distance of your apartment, selling most items you need for your stay. For the ultimate shopping experience take either public transportation or drive 10 minute to reach the enormous, local shopping mall (Parque Miramar), with over 160 shops (including favourites like H&M, Zara, and Blanco) and with a multiplex cinema with 12 cinema screens, there is bound to be something screening for your viewing pleasure. Most of the Blockbusters are shown in English, in case your Espanol is a little rusty.
As La Cala de Mijas was once home to the Moors and you can still tour the multitude of castles, walls and towers that are left behind as a part of Spain’s rich and vibrant heritage.
For the golf enthusiast, either beginner or advanced, the apartment is situated in the Golf Valley, with 9 excellent courses, this is a Golfers Paradise. These include the famous La Cala Golf, Mijas Golf, Mira Flores Golf, La Siesta Golf, La Noria Golf, Santana Golf, Calanova Golf, and El Chapatral Club de Golf.

Thank you for staying with us for so long. You still hold the record for the longest stay :) I am glad your son was able to get into the school here in La Cala de Mijas without too many issues. It seems a few emails back and forth was all that was required.
Since you were here a new Lidl grocery store has opened just 200 yards down the street, so it will be even closer to stock up on the essentials. We sure hope you will come back to visit again soon.

Thank you for your stay in our holiday rental in La Cala de Mijas. We are glad that you found everything to your liking, especially that there were plenty of sunbeds, as we have had one complaint about that in the past. I talked to the complex president who said that there were 10 sunbeds by each pool, with 10 more arriving the very next day. It sounds like have arrived.
Please come back again soon, when you have more than 1 week to spend in this beautiful region, rich with history. There is so much to see and so much to do, when you are interested in exploring. See you soon!

"Everything you need....and more!!!"
We stayed with our 3 boys under 7 for the first two weeks in August. The apartment was exactly as advertised on the excellent website and did not disappoint in any way. There was more than enough room for us all, and some of the included equipment was a real bonus- for example we brought one pram for our 20 month old but found the buggy provided was greatly helpful for our 3 year old as well( there is a bit of a walk up hill from the main resort!) This apartment has everything you can think of, so you don't mind having a few nights in ( not like when you stay in a hotel with kids and need to escape the confines of 4 walls!), as it provides a real home from home environment with the added bonus of luxuries like the hot tub and lovely terrace area to enjoy with a glass of wine once the kids are in bed.
The resort of 'La Cala' was ideal for us- there are plenty of bars/ shops/ restaurants and a fantastic playground near to the apartment with an adjacent outdoor cafe where you can watch the kids from a safe distance.
We enjoyed our stay that much that we booked again for the same time next year within 2 days of our return. Would highly recommend to anyone!
It is always fun to have guests return to our La Cala de Mijas based holiday rental homes. That you booked within 2 days of arriving home is a great review by itself.

"Perfect place for a trip with the girls!"
We just loved this place! We were three girls who spent one week here in the beginning of June, and we wish had booked one more week. We will definitely come back! The apartment has everything you could possibly wish for. A BBQ on the balcony, a blender for drinks and even make-up Mirrors in the bathroom (in addition to all regular kitchen-, living room- and bathroom stuff). Our favorite place to relax after a day at the beach was the balcony. It was so lovely, with a large dining table, Jacuzzi and a “sofa hang out”. We went to the beach every day, and it was perfect! We had nice weather, and there were really nice sunbeds with thick mattresses and umbrellas for rent. The beds in the apartment are also worth mentioning, they were just so comfortable we slept like babies. The town itself is really cozy, with restaurants and bars. We also took a taxi to Fuengirola and Malaga to explore the area a bit more. We will absolutely recommend this place to others. Everything was just so easy from booking, getting there, information folders and Sally who was very helpful throughout our stay. Thank you so, we will be back!.
I am so glad to hear that the Train and Bus guide that we put together worked well for you and your group. Going from Malaga airport to La Cala de Mijas by public transportation is always around 1 hour and super cheap.
Sally, our onsite manager, is awesome! She can always be trusted put together something special, should you want a food basket, birthday party balloons, or a Christmas tree.
I agree that La Cala de Mijas can be a bit quiet if you want to go clubbing. There is only one place for that in La Cala, but there are plenty of pubs, bars, lounges, and restaurants.

"Chill out and relax in style!"
Had a fantastic time at this apartment. It is like a home away from home. Everything is thought of and where you would expect it to be. Our needs were catered for very well. A cot, high chair and other toddler essentials were of top quality as was the whole apartment. We enjoyed the hot tub, which finished of the evenings well. Especially after a walk home up the rather steep hill. Nothing a taxi ride didn't remedy.
It is set in quiet grounds and well kept. Round the pool most days it was very quiet and felt sometimes like our own private pool.
Also the lidl's at the bottom of the road is great. Good food, cheap beer and only a short walk.
All in all a great apartment, and would recommend to anyone who wants all the home comforts in a lovely complex.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and that you found all the baby and toddler friendly features to be helpful. It is our goal to have families that travel with young children to have an easy a time as possible, by reducing the amount of items that are needed to be brought from home.
When we were first looking around to find a 2nd home in La Cala de Mijas we saw many beautiful homes that were up steep hills. We avoided these to ensure that families walking with strollers, and the older people with their walkers, would have no problems walking to our apartment. We picked this location because we thought it was perfect, with just a slight hill leading up to the garage with the elevator to the apartment. We were therefore a bit surprised about your comment about the steep hill leading to our apartment. We hope it wasn't all that bad, as we want to list and describe everything exactly the way it is, to ensure that everyone has a great time.
We hope to have you back in the near future. We loved the care you showed for our home. You were excellent visitors to our home from home.
