As you can see, your holiday rental apartment has a modern Mediterranean style. The open floor plan, private hot tub (Jacuzzi or spa), and partial ocean view terraces create an airy, relaxed feel that's perfect for kicking back after exploring La Cala de Mijas and the rest of the Costa del Sol. When you're ready to venture out, you'll find 28,000 square meters of tropical gardens and two expansive saline pools in the complex. It's quite possible to spend the entire day with the pool or the gardens to yourself.

Sandy Beach Holiday Rental Apartment has three bedrooms: one master suite with a queen-size bed (double), one guest room with two queen-size bunk beds, and a daybed on the terrace that sleeps two. The terrace converts into a fully-enclosed room with air conditioning, blackout curtains, and a foldaway glass covering. The master bathroom includes a double sink, a bathtub, and a shower. The shared bathroom has a mosaic tile shower and Italian marble counter tops and walls.

The self-catering holiday rental apartment is located on the 2st floor, or what is referred to as the 3nd floor in Northern Europe and the US. The 35 square meter balcony/terrace has a large section enclosed with a glass wall, that can easily be slid to one side, to open the entire area up to the sun. For the winter evenings, the glass can be put in place, and the terrace be fully enjoyed, with heaters, if necessary.
The private SPA is located on the terrace, out of view from the rest of the units, for a more private experience.
Conditions
A well-behaved, small dog is allowed, but sorry, no cats. (€30 extra per visit towards cleaning)
Strictly no smoking in the apartment or the enclosed balcony.
Refundable breakages deposit of €100 required before arrival, to be refunded within two days of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

The Costa del Sol ("Sun Coast" or, more literally, "Coast of the Sun") is a region in the south of Spain, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is comprised of the coastal towns and communities along the Mediterranean coastline of the Málaga province. With approximately 340 days of sun a year, it is no wonder the region got its name. The Costa del Sol is situated between two lesser known costas: Costa de la Luz and Costa Tropical. Formerly made up only of a series of small, quiet fishing settlements, the region has been transformed during the latter part of the 20th century, into a tourist destination of world renown.
Historically its population lived in the fishing villages, and in the "white" villages a little distance inland, in the mountains running down to the coast. The area was discovered and developed to meet the demands of international tourism in the 1950s and has since been a popular destination for foreign tourists not only for its beaches but also for its local culture. The area is particularly famous for its towns like Marbella, which provides the Costa del Sol with its reputation for being a playground for its super-rich and famous visitors.
The Mijas Costa / La Cala de Mijas area
With so much on your doorstep you will never tire of things to do either with or without a car. La Cala de Mijas still has that small town charm and feel, yet the refinement and amenities of a modern town. Every Wednesday and Saturday you can walk to the local market within 10 minutes, where you can purchase anything from local fresh produce, clothing, jewellery, and everything else including the kitchen sink.
There are Irish Bars, English Bars and authentic Spanish Bars to choose from, all within a few blocks of each other. You will find restaurants from all corners of the globe and retail stores up and down the narrow, quaint cobble stone streets. A 10 minute walk will take you to the beautiful La Cala de Mijas playa with miles of the Costa del Sol’s finest sand. For your own little Jack Sparrow, a pirate ship playground is located along the beach-walk promenade, a big hit with the kids, if you can drag them away from the inviting, warm Mediterranean ocean. Two convenience grocery stores are within easy walking distance of your apartment, selling most items you need for your stay. For the ultimate shopping experience take either public transportation or drive 10 minute to reach the enormous, local shopping mall (Parque Miramar), with over 160 shops (including favourites like H&M, Zara, and Blanco) and with a multiplex cinema with 12 cinema screens, there is bound to be something screening for your viewing pleasure. Most of the Blockbusters are shown in English, in case your Espanol is a little rusty.
As La Cala de Mijas was once home to the Moors and you can still tour the multitude of castles, walls and towers that are left behind as a part of Spain’s rich and vibrant heritage.
For the golf enthusiast, either beginner or advanced, the apartment is situated in the Golf Valley, with 9 excellent courses, this is a Golfers Paradise. These include the famous La Cala Golf, Mijas Golf, Mira Flores Golf, La Siesta Golf, La Noria Golf, Santana Golf, Calanova Golf, and El Chapatral Club de Golf.
For those who enjoy a little flutter at the races, do not miss a wonderful and exciting day at the Hipodromo Costa del Sol, just a 5 minute drive away.

Budget Airlines: Malaga International Airport (AGP) is the closest airport, only 20 miles away from the property, and is served by many airlines, with the most flights flown by budget airlines such as Ryanair, EasyJet, Vueling, Iberia, Air Berlin, Norwegian, and Monarch. Gibraltar Airport (GIB) is another option, about 60 minutes away, with service by EasyJet and Monarch as the biggest players. If you fly to Gibraltar, you will need to schedule a rental car (see below.)
Taxi: Taxis line up outside the arrivals hall. Rates are posted on the wall which lists destinations and fares, and it is currently showing up €48. Elsewhere, taxis can be flagged down in the street or found at designated ranks, and show a green light when available. The journey to the apartment takes approximately 20 minutes.
Bus: Buses towards Marbella depart from a stop outside the arrivals hall half-hourly (6.30am to 11.30pm), and will have a mandatory stop in Cala de Mijas. The buses are operated by Autobuses Portillo (http://www.ctsa-portillo.es/) and cost less than €7 one way. You can buy tickets ahead of time at the link above.
Train/Bus Combo: The new underground train station in Terminal 3. You can buy a ticket on the train. Trains run half-hourly to Fuengirola to the west. From there you need to walk less than 70 yards to the bus station across the street, and catch the bus towards Marbella. See link below for the schedule, and use the link under "BUS" to purchase a ticket.

Car Rental: It is highly recommended to schedule the car rental ahead of time, to get the best online deals. You'll have a hard time beating http://www.economycarhire.com but can always try other sites such as www.kayak.com or your airline's site.

Having previously booked the owner's other apartment the Coral Beach we knew we would be happy with the Sandy beach. We were met by the new manager Sally who was prompt at meeting us at the apartment when we phoned her from the airport. Although we had been before Sally let us know about all the facilities and was excellent at giving us ideas of where to go in the area. If your looking for local info Sally is your girl. The apartment was really nice, modern and most importantly clean and a complete home from home. The apartment is well lit and bright giving a sense of open space. The Dining room was beautifully furnished as was the living room with the corner sofa and 2 seater sofa,enough for a big family to enjoy. The bedrooms were tastefully designed with the most comfy beds I have ever encountered, even in some 5 star hotels. The apartment has all the mod cons and top of the range white goods including a huge fridge freezer to hold as much beer and wine or salad if that's your thing. The kitchen again has everything you could possibly need including a teabag sqeezer, now that's service for you. The sun room was excellent and our favourite area to hang out after a invigorating walk on the local beach just 10 minutes walk away. Sit, relax and take in the sun going down in the distance with your gin & Tonic or glass of the local wine. Better still enjoy the view from your own private hot tub. We didn't have a chance to check out the pool area on our last visit as it was hidden in the tropical gardens. We wandered up the spiral pathway and were met by a sparkling clean beautiful large pool with little shaded break out umbrella areas. There were also plenty of sunbeds for everyone to use. The area also has clean toilets in the grounds. In the summer this would be ideal for families with children who perhaps do not want to walk to the local beach. There is plenty to do in the local area from the clean sandy beach to the local town of cala de mijas with a array of excellent shops and restaurants to choose from. There was also a new Lidl 5 minutes from the apartment for those last minute daily essentials. We highly recommend the Chinese restaurant Cantonese 2 which we visit on most visit's. For great food and drink and a superb price this cannot be beat. The owner is lovely and really courteous with the free liquer at the end of your meal and a bracelet for the ladies. The weather was mixed from a pleasant 17c to 22c. Not that we were cold after leaving a freezing Glasgow at -5c. If your looking for Quality, Relaxation, a real home from home then you need to book this gem of a aprtment in Cala de Mijas. |

Our family with a 10 month old baby stayed in the Sandy holiday apartment for 8 nights and had a fantastic time. This holiday flat has an extensive set of amenities, many more than what one could normally expect, with no extra charges. We would highly recommend staying here and would love to come visit in the future. |

We stayed for a week, dad, mum and two boys (8 and 10). Thanks to Sally for meeting us at the apartment, it really made us feel welcome. The apartment is well equipped, which made cooking at home easy when needed. As we stayed there in February, the weather wasn't warm enough to use the outdoor pools - not for the adults, at least. The boys used it twice, and on our pictures it looks really idyllic. The beach was also fun, and we spent some time chasing the waves. Afterwards it sure was nice to have a warm Jacuzzi to come home to, and it was used every day! We rented a car, which we highly recommend. There are so many things to do and see in the area, but they are easiest to reach by car. The aquarium in Benalmadena is okay on a rainy day. If you like walking in the mountains, you should go visit El Torcal de Antequera and look at the fantastic rock formations. Gibraltar was also fun; we rented a taxi that gave us a guided tour on the Upper Rock. In that way even the mother of the family – terrified of heights – could enjoy the trip, only occasionally suffering from death anxiety. The youngest boy, however, still hasn't forgiven the ape trying to steal his caps. This sure was a memorably holiday – we will be back! |
