The Andalucia region
The Costa del Sol stretches along just over 150 kilometres of Málaga province and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations. The area's mild climate is the root attraction that makes it possible to enjoy the beaches and a wide variety of outdoor activities year round.
The whitewashed villages of Andalucia are impressive historical monuments in themselves, and their people still live according to age-old traditions, inherited from their Iberian, Roman and Moorish forefathers.
Many of the villages near the coast have become fashionable resorts, while still conserving their ancient charm, whereas others, lost in the highlands of Andalucia, remain rough and ready olive-farming towns, with a special appeal for the adventurous travellers.
Some of the best villages to explore are only half a day's car ride from the Costa del Sol, including Casares, Gaucin, Manilva, Benahavis, Istan, Ojen, Monda, Coín and Tolox.
From Guadalalmina to Cabopino, the Marbella coastline stretches along some 26 kilometres of sunny beaches bathed by the Mediterranean and where you can enjoy traditional fish and seafood favourites like sardines on a spit, fried fish and the incomparable paella. There are also two large parks in Marbella which provide some welcome shade to spend some time with a book. The amphitheatre at Constitution Park (once the garden of a private residence) is frequently used for concerts and plays in the summer. Casinos, clubs and just about every sporting activity under the sun, few places can match Marbella for world class tennis, sailing and golf. There are also three pleasure craft harbours here.
In Riviera del Sol you are not far from anything you need on a daily basis. 200 meters from the house there is a supermarket, Internet café, news agent etc. At the bottom of the hill there is an Opencor, (Supermarket that is open 365 days a year till late) restaurants and bars. Across the main road from there is the beach. A short drive away heading west is the commercial area of Calahonda.
Riveria del Sol is mid way between Malaga and Marbella so you will be really spoilt for choice for places to go. There is Nerja in the east or Ronda to the west and in-land, Fuengirola Zoo or Estepona Safari Park, Malaga’s Plaza Mayor or Marbella’s Cañada! See our Things to do page for more information. The Miraflores Golf Club is around the corner with 18 holes and a high quality clubhouse open to the public.

"Best Holiday Ever!!!"
I spent a long time sifting through the many holiday websites to find the right place. Eventually I narrowed it down to a couple and finally to this one based on responses to my email enquiries some of which didn't seem that bothered whether I stayed there or not. The other good thing was that midweek handovers were possible. Then followed almost a year of looking forward to our first fly/drive/villa holiday during which there were many emails between me and the agents Colleen and Thomas who were very helpful. Thomas met us at the Villa and made us feel instantly welcome. We were blown away by the Villa and my three daughters wasted no time trying out the pool. We are a family of five with three grown up daughters but there is easily enough room for two families with terraces and bathrooms galore!! We had a car and made good use of it with trips to Puerto Banus, Marbella and especially Cabopino which we loved and went to most evenings. That said, so long as you are reasonably fit you could get away without a car; beach is about 20mins walk away and closest shop 10mins. Equally you could just stay at this beautiful Villa all day and still have a fantastic time. I'm not a huge fan of holidays abroad and am generally starting to think about coming home mid week on this holiday I didn't want to come home. Riviera del Sol is a lovely, safe and surprisingly green urbanisation with just enough facilities to get by and within striking distance of the bigger towns if you are looking for the nightlife. Roads are pretty easy to drive on we took Colleens recommendation for car hire and that worked perfectly. I can honestly say that I wouldn't change anything about this holiday - to cap it all on the final evening I realised I'd printed the wrong boarding passes for our return flight, no problem Thomas and Colleen to the rescue once again. Give it a try you won't be disappointed
