Villa Ricanda is situated just 1.5km from the popular beach resort of Fuengirola and only 20 minutes drive from Malaga International airport. It is a large, detached property with far reaching views to the South West.

The entire ground floor of the villa is self contained and reserved for guests, giving you the “feel” of your own private house with separate entry and exit doors. The accommodation comprises 7 high quality, twin-bedded rooms with ensuite walk-in shower rooms. Two of the rooms are large enough to additionally accommodate a third full sized bed. Six guest bedrooms are air conditioned and open out onto the patio with lovely views of the gardens and beyond, and together, provide comfortable living arrangements for up to 16 discerning guests. Rooms 5 and 6 have interconnecting doors giving the opportunity of a 2 shower room suite to sleep up to 6 people. Additionally we have a 1 bedroomed Casita in the grounds, see Villa Casita on this site, which could sleep an extra 4 people making a maximum of 20 altogether. The Casita is rented separately and shares the pool.

There is an exclusive, brand new and fully equipped kitchen with 2 ovens, 2 fridges, twin sinks and a large electric hob. There is also a large sitting / dining room that opens out onto the terrace. This overlooks spacious, mature gardens where you can find a large fish pond with fountains, large lawns, tall palm trees, cacti, and sub-tropical fruit trees including orange, lemon and mango. The gardens also contain beautiful bougainvillea, hibiscus and olive trees, and there are plenty of comfortable sun loungers so that you can relax in either the sun or the shade. In addition, there is a swimming pool. The twin beds can be pushed together to produce double beds if preferred. Cots and high chairs can be provided on request.

In 2013, the entire ground floor of the villa has been completely refurbished to a high standard, with new electrics, plumbing, lighting, shower rooms and furnishings. This includes new flooring throughout and new tiling in the shower rooms.

For your enjoyment you have a choice of numerous board games, books and DVDs. Free Wi-Fi is available, though the signal strength is stronger in some areas of the villa than others due to the Spanish system.

Outside

Swimming pool - The pool and gardens are south facing. The pool has no shallow end, being about 2m deep throughout and is therefore suitable only for confident swimmers as it is not supervised. We do provide a selection of pool “toys” – inflatables, balls etc and also provide a net across the middle of the pool enabling water volleyball to be played.

Guests are requested not to use the bath towels provided in guest bedrooms for use outside,

Outside shower – There is an outside shower, built into an alcove with a volcanic rock featured appearance and is conveniently situated close to the pool for guests to use before and after swimming.

Outside lighting – garden lighting is provided around the grounds and driveway.

Pool Table – There is a full sized, pub type, pool table outside on the patio available free for all guests.

Quietly nestled in the leafy suburb of Sierrezuela, it provides easy access to more than 20 local golf courses and many fabulous beaches. It has two floors; the owners live entirely on the first floor of the villa and have separate entry doors so that you are not disturbed.

All School holiday weeks, July and August are reserved for full week bookings only. Otherwise the minimum stay is 3 nights for the whole ground floor of the Villa.

The Andalucia region

The Costa del Sol, situated on Spain's southern coast and stretches over 150 kilometres from Nerja in the east to Sotegrande in the west. The Costa del Sol is a province of Malaga and is one of Spain's most popular tourist destinations. The mild climate is the main attraction that makes it possible to enjoy the beaches and a wide variety of outdoor activities all year round. This region of Spain has paid host to a number of visitors throughout the ages and remnants of these ancient civilizations can still be found today.

The western Costa del Sol coastline, which stretches for 100km, begins at Malaga city heading west, bordering the province of Cadiz.

Malaga airport is just a 20 minute drive from Fuengirola along the main highway which is easily accessible. Local trains start at Malaga central and terminate at Fuengirola. A regular shuttle service every 30 minutes which is modern, reliable and above all, cheap! See below for more details.

The beaches in Torreblanca and Fuengirola are maintained to a high standard. Free fresh water public showers are provided all along the beaches. There are also pedalos, sun loungers and sun shades widely available. Whichever beach you're on there is always a bar or restaurant very close by!

There are miles of clubs, bars, cafes, restaurants and fine sandy beaches along the coast. For the cultural visitor, the highlights are the beautiful cities of Seville, Cordoba and Granada where there are some of the highest mountains in Europe (including Europe's southernmost skiing resort, Sierra Nevada - snow permitting!)

"Not your ordinary villa holiday - bit crowded!"

Villa Ricanda is a spacious, well equipped villa. The gardens are beautiful and there were plenty of sunbeds and chairs for our party of 14. The pool, unfortunately, is shared with the Casita occupa… More

We are very sorry that this guest was not fully satisfied with their holiday but on this occasion I do have to say that it is mainly their own fault. Some of the comments made in the review are factually incorrect and I would like to address them.
The first point is that the pool is shared by ourselves and the casita guests. We have always made this clear in the advert ( why would we want guests to be disappointed on arrival?) and additionally we send all guests a written confirmation that makes it clear that we DO in fact refer to the shared pool on the website and we remind them about this information a second time. I'm sorry to say that in this instance this guest failed to read the information on 2 occasions. My partner and I do use the pool occasionally, maybe 3 times a week and always in the evenings when other guests are not already using it. At the most it is 15 minutes. The Casita guests (usually just a couple) mainly keep themselves to themselves and have their own private area of the gardens but do share the pool. In our experience it's again only once a day or so and only for 15 minutes. The husband of this guest told me that it would not be a problem but he apparently did not tell his wife this.
I clean the pool every morning and feed the fish in the pond twice a day. We have a very friendly placid, dog who normally accompanies me but I ALWAYS ask guests if they mind this or not. This party of guests all liked the dog and even bought him treats, except the lady who made the booking I think. We do not take him to the garden to exercise him, we are adjacent to a large undeveloped area with dry river beds, but he does run around if we, or the guests, throw balls for him.
We do not have free access 24 hours a day and in fact NEVER enter the villa unless we are invited or unless we ask first. We do actually knock on the door. The garden and pool lights are wired to a tiny timer clock in our private laundry room alongside other high voltage switches. This was not our plan, we inherited the situation. It is unrealistic to allow guests access to this switch room for safety reasons. However at the beginning of each holiday we chat to guests and ask them when they want the patio areas illuminated and we always comply and change this as often as necessary, always usually extending the "off" time by at least an hour to typically 3.a.m. but for one customer recently it was 5 a.m. No problem.
We are ve3ry sorry that some things broke down but as the customer herself pointed out we immediately sent for engineers or bought replacements. It's extremely difficult getting things done in Spain in August but overall I think we did a really good job to keep these guests happy. We don't actually provide free ice for guests but when they complained we did supply 2 bags from the local supermarket - free of charge.
This guest is factually incorrect again about the cleaning. We make it very clear that the Villa should be left in the same clean condition that they find it ( we do supply all cleaning equipment and chemicals ) or we clean it for a very reasonable 130 euros. This guest wanted her cake and eat it, but the information was very clearly explained in the confirmation contract, which very clearly this guest did not read. Incidentally two sons and one brother in law of the lady who booked, told us that this was the best villa holiday they had ever had.
This guest paid only £21 per person per night in a 1 million euro Villa with 7 all ensuite bedrooms and very large gardens in the peak July / August holidays. We think we offer exceptional value. We have had over 300 guests this year and all reviews have been very good except this one which I really do believe because the guest did not read anything properly. We are hard working and very honest people. Across our 3 websites all 73 previous reviews have been positive and in fact on our B+B site we are rated 2nd highest on the entire Costa Del Sol. I'm sure that discerning guests will read all reviews and not just this one and whilst we recognise that our facilities do not appeal to everyone we are nonetheless happy to provide very happy holidays for those that read the information.
