The Yorkshire region

Yorkshire Dales National Park is a special place; a place of natural beauty and diversity, a place of grandeur, a place of tranquility and solitude, a place to be refreshed and invigorated, and a place to enjoy the challenges of the hills. The interaction of people with nature throughout history has produced a landscape of remarkable and distinctive character.

Here you can experience the vast open space of moorland, listen to the call of the upland birds, walk for miles and miles or sit and watch the world go by along the rivers. You can wander through woods, saunter through picturesque Dales villages of local sandstone or throw pebbles in a stream. All around are the signs of past generations, historic abbeys, embattled castles, churches, crosses, ancient routes, providing some of the best walks in the UK.

Middleham

Middleham was once known as ‘the Windsor of the North’ because of the frequent visits of monarchs and nobles to Middleham Castle and home to Richard III in 1471. It is a picturesque dale town with its own Castle, Parish church, and charming market square surrounded by local pubs, restaurants, shops and the most stunning landscape.

Middleham today derives much of its prosperity from the breeding and training of racehorses and there are many well known racing stables in and around the town.

"A beautiful house in a wonderful location"

I had a fantastic stay at Middleham House. The house is extremely spacious and has been decorated and furnished with great thought. The bedrooms are very comfortable and have been decorated beautifully. The house is set in a scenic town and has stunning countryside on the doorstep. A wonderful place!

"Spacious, comfortable, warm, elegant large country house located right in the middle of fantastic Dales village"

Middleham House was a true find and an excellent choice to spend a special birthday weekend with a large group of old friends and family. The beds are extremely comfortable, many of the bedrooms have magnificent views over the village, the kitchen recently modernised and is very well equipped. On the Saturday night I booked Figs Catering of North Allerton to cater for my 20 guests and the dining room lit with candlearbras looked magnificent and did justice to Nicola's excellent food .My guests came from far and wide, all thought it a wonderful property and location. I just need to find an excuse to visit again!

"A quintessential English manor house with all the luxury provided!"

We had the most special time at this wonderful manor house. It has exceeded all our expectations and it is much better than it seems on the website. Thank you so much for having us to stay. We love the fact that every corner you turn it is unqiue. The house is full of charm and atmosphere and bring you right back in time. We would definitely recommend to pamper yourselves while staying there. We had wonder massages and private meals cooked. The staff were wonderful and nothing is too much to ask. We also love all the private spaces and hearing our children practicing piano in the background in the living room is really special. The library and the billiard rooms are tremendous! Great space to entertain all age groups. We will definitely be back!
