Located on the ground floor of the complex, the apartment is ideal for people with reduced mobility or just to drag home the shopping from Miami's most funky stores.
Living area includes sofabed & second sofa, Plasma TV DVD PC/Printer & Internet, Philip Starcke dining furniture & 4 chairs. Two bar stools and fully equipped kitchen including giant fridge/freezer, 2 dishwashers, wine cooler, professional oven and full cookware & flatware (cutlery).
Bedroom includes a second Plasma & DVD, Bosch alarm clockradio. Bathroom : Giant closet, washer/drier large bath & separate shower, toilet. Second, toliet/washroom off living area.
Rentals in this apartment are sold with no same-day handover so you can check out as late as 6pm with no extra charge.

The Florida / Florida Gold Coast region
Florida is the sunshine state - and Miami Beach (and South Beach in particular) is all about fun and night life. The beaches are stunning - the best ones in the area are Haulover or SOFI (South of Fifth) at the bottom of South Beach so a car is ideal during the day. America's biggest shopping mall Aventura Mall is located about 30 mins north of South Beach. For designer shopping try Bal Harbour shopping which is about 15 minutes north of the property.
Miami Beach / South Beach area
South Beach is famous within the US for it's huge Cuban population. Spanish is as spoken here as English and the favourite language is Spanglish - both at the same time. You'll find staggeringly good night life. The area around Lincoln (where the apartment is located) is bustling full of restaurants from "top end" Cuban designer food through steaks and brasseries, Italian restaurants through to home-made Italian Pizza (Roseta is $5 a slab mmm) and Italian Gelatarias selling freshly made Ice Cream.
How to get there
This property is located in South Beach, at the southern tip of the island that makes Miami beach. The nearest airports are MIA-Miami International, approx 20 mins distant and FLL-Fort Lauderdale which is approx 60 mins distant. FLL is a very comfortable well designed airport so check fares through this as an alternative to MIA which can sometimes be more pricey. Orlando Sandford is 5 hours away by car on a 90 minute flight - not really an option unless you fly.
Rental cars are easily available at Miami Airport however, these are all located off-airport with coaches etc. Having done this myself I would recommend that you get a taxi ($25) to from the property and then rent a car with collection in South Beach, both Hertz and Thrifty have offices close to the property. The Hertz office is literally 100m from the front door. Either way I use www.carjet.com to get good rates for walk-in or collection at the airport. The closest walk-in station is 50m from the property at Hertz (www.hertz.co.uk) Address 1619 Alton Road, Miami Beach, Florida Tel : 786-276-1121. If you can do your car before you fly even if you go direct to Hertz. Rates are cheaper and insurance deals are better.
The property has it's own designated parking space directly outside the buildings front entrance which is a god send - parking in Miami (apart from a 1 hour parking metre) is heavily patrolled and expensive.
British Airways (www.ba.com), Virgin (www.virgin-atlantic.com) and American Airlines (www.aa.com) fly from the UK to Miami direct from London Heathrow. In high-season (Nov - Mar) these rates can get pricey so always shop around (www.opodo.co.uk) will give you the best long-haul rates, often being cheaper to fly with a connection than going direct. Also very good value from the UK is IBERIA via Madrid so check them also (www.iberia.com).
One final tip : fare to New York are often 50% lower than flights to Miami. On several trips I have flown into JFK first then picked up www.jetblue.com which is a great low-cost carrier to Miami. There is also a hidden advantage in connecting to Miami rather than flying direct; Miami is notorious for it's slow and chaotic Immigration "funnel". New York is generally fast and courteous so well worth considering since you'll arrive into Miami as a domestic passenger and miss most of the gorillas at MIA.

Further details indoors: Wireless broadband internet, heating and built in chanelled air-conditioning provide a quiet nights sleep in the sticky warm Miami nights. The main living area is decorated with Philip Starcke furniture and carries a fully equipped kitchen. Bath towels and even large fluffy beach towels are provided for up to 4 persons irrespective of the number of guests.
Further details outdoors: Outside, you'll find a swimming pool in the central open-air atrium in the complex. This area is "closed in" so there is no unauthorised access from outside so ideal for kids to spash about in.
The apartment is located with a 200m distance of Epicure gourmet supermarkets, a Dunkin Donuts, post office and a gym. All easily reached from the property. Within 500m is Lincoln, South Beach's premier open-air mall jammed with cosmopolitan nightlife, restaurants and world-class shoppping. This property is at the "bottom" of Lincoln, ie away from the slightly rougher Collins Avenue end where you can find cheap beach supplies and fast food joints as well as the Delano.
Further details
The apartment is aimed specifically at non-US guests travelling long-haul on pre or post cruise stays. In addition to free parking, you can check-in from 12pm on arrival day and depart as late as 6pm on the day of departure. Compare this to most hotels where you will be out of your room at least 8 hours before your flight home even begins. Here, you can be having a last swim before going to the airport.
I will only accept bookings with proof of age and nationality of the main renter. My local agent will also check this on your arrival. The apartment is suitable for couples or families. It is NOT marketted for stag/hen nights etc.

Currency & Payment
Rates are quoted and sold in US dollars (USD) and must be transferred/wired to a US bank account in Miami. I will of course confirm receipt of funds when they reach the account.
Please note in the event that you cancel, your refund will come back as USD. In these "turbulent" times in which we live, this may have a different value when it hits your home bank account in GBP/EUR etc.
Long-stay discounts
If you want to stay longer than 7 days (max 28 days stay), I can offer a 10% on the rate. So for example, 10 days = 1000 USD / 7 x 10 = 1428.57 USD - 10% = 1285.71 USD.
Cancellation Charges.
I wish this section wasn't necessary but to avoid folks blocking off the apartment and cancelling last-minute, there has to be some kind of control over cancellation. The current rules are as follows.
Short hires (1 – 13 nights stay)
From booking date until 60 days prior to arrival : Refund less USD $300 fee.
From 59 – 30 days prior to arrival : Refund less USD $500.00 fee.
From 29 days prior to arrival including “no-show” : no refund is payable.
Longer hires (14+ nights stay)
From booking date until 60 days prior to arrival : refund less USD $150 per week.
From 59 – 30 days prior to arrival : Refund less USD $250 per week.
From 29 days prior to arrival including “no-show” : no refund is payable.
Security/Damage deposit.
The apartment is kitted out to a VERY high standard, there is a $1000 USD deposit on arrival to cover against damage, smoking and other losses. This is processed by my agent locally as a signed credit card slip (or travellers cheques or USD cash if you prefer) returned to you when the apartment is checked-out on leaving day.
Late arrivals :
The prices above assume arrival between 10am - 6pm on the day of arrival and check-out 10am - 6pm on departure day. Late arrival/departure is subject to an extra $USD60 per occasion. If your arrival is later than midnight (either pre-booked or due flight delays) rest assured you WILL BE MET as arranged however there is USD $100 fee to cover late-night service from Mindnight - 8am the next day.
Apartment Cleaning :
Rates include deep-cleaning fees prior to arrival and a weekly linen/maid clean. For rentals under 7 days there is no mid-week clean (the apartment comes with 12 towels and a washer dryer anyway), for rentals over 7 days I would normally arrange with you in advance the most convenient cleaning day half-way through your stayetc.
Smoking :
Absolutely NO WAY ZERO-TOLERANCE NO SMOKING. If the apartment smells of smoke on check-out (even a tiny bit) you will be charged USD300 from your deposit for deep cleaning Grrr. :-)
