Enquire nowThe Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region
Languedoc is huge - stretching from Spain in the south to the Rhone in the East. The region's three major mountain ranges mean that the terrain and climate of Languedoc are surprisingly diverse. Such physical diversity has led, over the years, to political, economic, culinary and linguistic diversity.
Boasting Medieval fortresses, Roman aqueducts, Mediterranean coastline, endless vineyards and expansive national parks, a visitor could spend a lifetime exploring sunny Languedoc-Rousillon. Sitting on the Geographic divide between the Iberian peninsula and mainland Europe, the regions towns and cities, including the beautiful Carcassonne, Nimes and Montpellier, are connected by paths both ancient and new.
WEATHER
Languedoc gets over 300 days of sunshine aming it a great palce to visit all year round.
- Spring -- between March and May, everything comes to life, including Languedoc's villages and towns. Fetes start, and the farmers get busier.
- Summer -- summer is when Languedoc is most alive, with lots of concerts and fetes, including Beziers famous Feria. It is quite hot, with temperatures hovering around 30 degrees making it a great place if you want to swim and relax.
- Autumn -- with the vine turning orange, most days in Autumn are gloriously beautiful, with the weather far more comfortable and still warm enough to swim until mid October.
- Winter -- while the winters can be cold it is very sunny and bright, and if you're looking to get away from northern Europe's low grey skies and wet air, then Languedoc is a good alternative.
The Meze area
Meze is considered as one the leading places around the Mediterranean for small fishing. The village is located between vineyards and a great lake called the Etang de Thau. The Meze area offers many sports and recreation: swimming, boat, windsurfing, tennis... either on the Mediterranean or on the lake. It is a really accessible village because of the national road which joins Sète to Cap d'Agde runs along the sea.
There are beaches on either side of Meze and it offers all the attractions of a family seaside resort, with its golden sandy beach, and its charming marinas. It is also famous for its numerous restaurants each serving the freshest fish caught on the day.
The town itself is also attractive, with narrow streets to explore in the old town (especially the attractive vaulted passageway). Part of the ancient ramparts can be seen along the etang.

We took our 3 kids there last July and we had a great time. The location of the apartment was ideal as we were right beside the beach so really easy to pop back to the apt if you forgot something, which always happens with kids :-) The apartment was perfect. It had everything we needed and more. The kitchen was really well equipped and the kids had a DVD player and Sky TV (we just had to bring our sky card with us) so they were entertained in the evenings while we relaxed on the balcony. The marina with all it's bars and restaurants were a short walk away as was the supermarket. Would definitely go back !!! |
