Welcome to "WALNUT FARM". 12 acres of private meadows, woodland & garden offering quality accommodation for groups and families. It is our policy to price low out of "high season" to encourage more people to take advantage of this exceptional region. Comprising 2 houses with 4 double bedrooms ( cots, high chairs, baby bath provided). They can be rented separately as "Farmhouse" and "Cottage."

The 2 HOUSES: -
Farmhouse : Sleeps 5. An authentic 18th century "Maison de Fermier", with French oak and flagstone floors, 2 double bedrooms, bathroom with luxury shower, beautiful lounge and a very spacious, open plan kitchen/ dining room. A glazed door leads out to the lovely timber balcony. There is also a patio with BBQ. [ Normally £500 ; £400, or £300 as a single "let" ]
Cottage : Sleeps 4. ( plus sofa bed ). This is a charming, light cottage with a big bath, a cabin shower, comfy living area and a well equipped kitchen / dining room. It has it's own double patio area- part grapevine covered pergola, and part exposed for sun bathing with 2 sun loungers. All outside seating is teak and has comfortable cushions. [ Normally £400 ; £300 ; or £250 as a single "let"]
"The Cottage" and " The Farmhouse" each have their own outside areas to relax in, and ample parking. The kitchens have good quality appliances, some brand new, including a dish washer. The Farmhouse dining area has a long table with 6 dining chairs and 2 carvers. The splendid timber balcony can seat 8 in the shade of the great lime tree. There is a mobile BBQ provided on the back patio, and a stone built BBQ on the front double patio area. All floors are in French oak, chestnut or flagstones. The décor light and contemporary.
All prices include preparation, cleaning and supply of appropriate bedding and towels, complimentary bottle of wine, and a useful array of spices and seasonings, coffee, tea & sugar to enable a smooth start to your stay.

The Limousin region
This huge French "departement" covers too much area to explore in one holiday. So I'm pleased to say the Correze/ Lot border is the most southern and interesting part, containing many famous Chateaux, Caves with paintings and spectacular natural features, and the great Dordogne river system below the dams, from Argentat, all the way to Sarlat.
It's the best Kayaking because rapids and tributaries punctuate this most diverse section. You can choose the more leisurely section from Martel if preferred. One tributary leads you to the monastery and medieval village at Rocamadour, set in its' own precipitous gorge. Along with the Gouffre de Padirac, it is one of the finest tourist sites in France. The Gouffre invites you to punt half a mile along an underground river, then walk to a cave 900ft high. You won't be disappointed, it really is awesome!
There is horse riding 5 mins away at "Ranch de Chadenac". Each week of summer there are village fetes of every description.
Our nearest wine producer, nearest village in fact, is "Milles et un Pierres" at Branceilles.
We are also on the "route de la noix", as in Walnut orchards. Vin de noix, walnut cake, and walnut oil for salad dressing, are all sold locally, and crushed dried walnuts are also added to delicious Quercy, warm goats cheese salads, a commonly found starter on menus.
We have 24 mature trees on our parkland. The nuts can be collected throughout October when they fall. We also have some fruit trees, as well as oak, acacia, conifers and mixed woodland.
There is a stream fed pond, and a great effort is made to maintain wild flower meadows. Last year, among the huge flourishes of colour, we were delighted to see great numbers of "orchids". At least 4 varieties abound. May and June are good months to see Blossom and flowers. April/ May for nesting birds.
You may wish you chose to stay for 2 weeks, there is so much to do, and the weather is amazing, the nights being surprisingly warm, allowing you to imbibe late into the evening with your friends under the starry skies.

There are many chateaux on the Dordogne as well as Kayaking,( the best way to see it!) or the more leisurely river trips on a “Gabare” (Converted sailing barge). Visit Rocamadour, the monastery town in a gorge or Gouffre de Padirac, an underground river leading to an enormous cave. Some caves have neolithic cave paintings.
Each day you can enjoy elegant French food that the locals take for granted, and it's not expensive. And of course plenty of sunshine.
To cool off there are lake beaches "Lac de Lissac", The “Dordogne” at Beaulieu, or the huge open air pool "La Saule".
"Walnut farm" gives you that precious tranquility of long evenings & amazing night skies when your exploring is done. The property sits in the quiet hamlet of "Limes". It has not been worked since the 1980's. The present owner has restored, not only 3 of the 4 stone buildings, but vigorously improved the land, with wildlife and wild flower meadows at the heart of the project. Much of the land is being prepared for grazing in the form of 2 or 3 donkeys. Chestnut fence posts and a 5 bar gate enclose large areas of excellent grassland.
The nearest shops, market, garage and pool can be found at Meyssac, a 10min drive from the farm. Meyssac is next to Collonges La Rouge. Both are charming medieval villages with red sandstone buildings and turreted roofs, Collonges, in particular has a good variety of restaurants. Meyssac has "our local", a bar called "Chez Gilles", where you will find the same casual kindness they have been providing for the past 20 years!
Brive la Gaillarde, the closest small city, is 20mins drive away. A very attractive city with it's centre based around the cathedral of St Martin. Lovely shopping, classy restaurants.
A drive in any direction will reveal stunning villages like Turenne, Curemonte, Floirac or Beaulieu sur Dordogne,( 20mins ) where you can walk by the river and pass a little time at a relaxing brasserie, swim or take a barge boat trip.
