Courtyard Cottage is a Grade 2 listed Georgian town house in the picturesque Cornish fishing village of Mevagissey. Dating back to 1830, this 3 storey property has just been renovated to a high standard from top to bottom, benefiting from a well equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms and double glazing whilst retaining many original character features including wooden floors, granite fireplace and low ceilings in some places as you would expect in a property of this age.

Situated 200 metres from the harbour and just 20 metres from the car park, Courtyard Cottage is perfect for families to explore the region with beaches, cliff-top walks and the Lost Gardens of Heligan only minutes away. Perfectly located in the village, the cottage is just a short level walk to the restaurants and pubs in the narrow cobbled streets, but far out enough from the hustle and bustle to be quiet at night.

Split over 3 levels, you will find that you have plenty of space to relax and watch the world go by. There are 2 Xboxes (with games), DVD player (with over 100 DVD's) and iPod docking stations. Free Wi-fi plus 4 TV's with Freeview and a selection of family games should provide enough entertainment to keep everyone happy in between trips out and about. The family bathroom with bath and separate shower enclosure is on the top floor whilst there is an additional shower and toilet on the middle floor, next to the 4th bedroom. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a two-seater setee and one of the other double bedrooms benefits from a zip and link bed, which can be configured as a super-kingsize or two 3ft single beds. All of the bedrooms have wardrobes and chests of drawers.

As you come into the cottage, you enter the large kitchen / dining room. The kitchen is very well equipped with separate fridge and freezer, integrated dishwasher, large electric range cooker with 2 ovens and a washer dryer. Plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses and cooking utensils. The large oak dining table will comfortably seat 8 people.

The kitchen and dining room on the ground floor have under-floor heating and the lounge and bedrooms all have Rointe energy efficient electric radiators. Both the bathroom and shower room have heated towel rails. Electricity is included in the tariff. Bed linen and towels are also provided free of charge. Parking permit for 1 vehicle for the length of your stay is also included.

Stair gates are fitted and there is also a travel cot and high-chair available at no extra cost. Safety restrictors are fitted to all of the sash windows.

Our rates represent excellent value for money with peak season (July and August 2014) working out at under £25 per person per night, based on 8 people staying 7 nights and includes linen and towels, electric and parking for 1 vehicle. Low season starts from less than £10 per person per night

Short breaks and excellent under-occupancy discounts available outside of school holidays (please contact us for further details). Saturday changeover days throughout the year, but we may be able to be flexible with changeover days outside of school holidays.

We also own the shop unit at the front of the property and work has has just been completed to convert this property into a self-contained ground floor apartment. Sleeping two / four people, it is ideally suited to guests who prefer a property without stairs. We will be listing this property soon once furnishing has been completed so please contact us now for more information as very few properties in Mevagissey offer accommodation completely on the ground floor.

The South West of Cornwall has a wide variety of attractions to explore. With it's mild climate Cornwall is home to many gardens and National Trust properties. The Eden Project and the Tall Ships Harbour in Charlestown are both within 10 miles of Mevagissey and Truro with its magnificent cathedral and numerous shops is 20 miles away. Fowey, Gorran Haven and the Roseland Penninsula are also popular local destinations. Walk along rugged coastal paths or long sandy beaches, Cornwall has something for everyone, young or old.


Mevagissey has numerous restaurants and family friendly pubs, often hosting live music. Being small, Mevagissey has escaped the commercialisation of other Cornish seaside destinations and has a selection of interesting independent shops. Having made its wealth from pilchard fishing, Mevagissey once had 9 butchers shops. With its double harbour, Mevagissey is one of only a few working fishing villages left in Cornwall and you can take a pleasure cruise or try mackerel fishing whilst enjoying the glorious views of the Cornish coastline where you may catch a glimpse of seals, dolphins or basking sharks. There is a model railway and free museum within the village along with an activity centre which has a variety of activities. There is also a local scuba-diving club and the Pentewan cycle trail has lots of level stretches through the woods following the river. Towards the end of June Mevagissey celebrates Feast Week, a week of family fun, music, and floral dances through the streets. There is a small beach in the harbour and Portmellon and Pentewan beaches nearby. New Year's Eve is not to be missed as all the locals are in fancy dress so don't forget your outfit to see in the New Year.

"Great Cottage"

"Superb cottage mixing traditional and modern to a show home standard, situated in an idyllic location."

The attention to detail in Courtyard Cottage is amazing. The furnishings are stylish, comfortable and are a very high quality all set in a quaint traditional cottage. Having a choice of a double, king-size and super king-size beds illustrates this is not an 'ordinary' venue.
The kitchen is well equipped - from cooking simple snacks to full Sunday roasts. The comfortable lounge has a range of books, DVDs, X box games and throughout the cottage there are 4 flat screen TVs for any 'lazy days in'
The car park is just outside the cottage so access is great which is not the case for everyone when the streets are so narrow. The harbour is just a leisurely stroll where there are a good range of restaurants and individual small shops.

"Fantastic Place, Ideal Location...perfect !"

We booked this cottage last minute and couldnt have chosen better. The hosts were there to greet us and helped us feel at home. Although it's an old cottage it has been completely modernised with TV's, excellent fittings and entertainment. What was really surprising for a rental cottage were the superb beds!

Also, unlike other cottages the information provided was very detailed, relevant and up to date

As it was right in the centre on Mevagissey we could walk in and enjoy the harbour without getting the car out everyday..cant fault it..Thanks for a great place to stay

"Outstanding property in a lovely location"

We've stayed here once before and meant to write a review and never got round to it so now we're back again and thought we'd do it while we're still here! As well as fab weather this week this place is wonderful. We came in June, just the two of us and had a lovely stay, the cottage was warm and homely and although it is newly renovated it still has that cottage feel. We're back now with my daughter and family and it has exceeded our expectations! The owners obviously knew we had young children(3and9) with us and left little "treasures" hidden for them around the cottage,as well as numerous suitable DVDs, books and an Xbox.
The kitchen diner, which seats 8, has everything and more you could need. The whole place is fresh, clean and spacious and defiantly has the WOW factor!
