SERENITY HOUSE is upmarket, elegant and luxurious and is an ideal place to stay for families, friends and romantics. It sits on the edge of the panoramic & historic village of Megali Mandinia overlooking the sea and close to the majestic Taygetos mountain range. The thriving city of Kalamata with its sweeping harbour with it's fabulous watersports facilities and marina is only 20 minutes away while the pretty fishing hamlet of Kitries is only 10 minutes drive. The vibe of the area is relaxed and peaceful.

Aside from the stunning views, Megali Mandinia has it all. Tavernas within walking distance with a great beach only 5 minutes drive. Nowhere in Europe can you find such a beauty spot which is so majestic and yet so unspoilt.

SERENITY HOUSE is a three story chic villa which has four bedrooms , four bathrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, an outdoor pool and BBQ, olive and fig trees and a large and sumptuous covered veranda. You can be at the beach which has four bars (one with a plunge pool) in less than 5 minutes or choose to lounge by your own private pool. There is a huge covered & fully tiled veranda with comfortable outdoor sofas and loungers - this offers much needed shade in the summer. The BBQ is fully equipped and has it's own sink and separate seating area. Nightlife is only a few minutes drive to the exclusive area of Sandova beach. Or just take a walk though the village picking figs and grapes from the trees as you pass by, stop for a frappe at George's cafe where time stands still only for the clacking of Greek worry beads.

Classics lovers can find a vast array of sites - some well known like Ancient Olympia and some unknown - but just as fascinating, and all only a short drive away.

Hiking for both the experienced and inexperienced walker can be found 20 minutes away in the Tayegatos mountain range.

A very experienced English speaking walking and cultural guide can be arranged by appointment - at a fraction of the cost you would pay with large tour operators such as Martin Randall.

ABOUT THE HOUSE

The decor is contemporary although the villa has traditional Greek elements such as tile, wood, marble & stone. The furnishings are upmarket and stylish and have been chosen with both care and an eye for design.

On the ground floor there is a fully tiled hallway which leads to a lounge and dining area. The lounge has comfortable sofas, a cable TV and DVD player. The kitchen is fully fitted with a fridge/freezer, a four ring hob and oven, toaster, dishwasher and kettle. This leads straight onto the large verandas with a table and chairs to eat Al-Fresco and a great outdoor sofa and chairs. The first bedroom has two single beds. Fitted robes. There is a shower room and toilet on this floor.

The first floor is reached via a lovely marble staircase and leads to the master suite with a sumptuous queen bed, huge modern bathroom and a veranda with panoramic 360 views of sea and mountains. The third bedroom has two single beds, and an en-suite bathroom. There is a cute balcony with spectacular views that will take your breath away.

In the lower ground floor there is the fourth bedroom with a king size bed, a fully fitted bathroom and a useful patio area. Close by is a fig tree - help yourself - they are delicious for breakfast with Greek yogurt. Along the corridor is a washing machine and dryer . Here is also the 'Games' room with the Wii and a selection of games.

Outside is the pool with a shallow end for the children and a shower. There is a large BBQ and seating area along with a pretty landscaped garden and covered car port. There are a number of olive trees which provide shade along with delicious olive oil which is provided in plentiful quantity for you to enjoy. (Children should be supervised at all times and no diving in the shallow end).

Everyone comments that the best part of the house is the unusually large covered veranda. We guarantee that you will spend lazy days there soaking up the view, feeling the breeze from the sea and generally being serene and relaxed.

There are plenty of games including a Wii and table tennis and also a choice of pool toys to use. There is also a generous book library and a good selection of DVDs to watch through the BOSE TV stereo system.

The Peloponnese region

Megali Mandinea is a picturesque village just 20 minutes outside of the bustling town of Kalamata with it's sweeping harbour, great marina and lively nightlife.. The village is unique in it's 360 degree spectacular & panoramic views of mountains and sea. It is a traditional Greek village with a mini market and 3 tavernas which are open all year. 1.5 km below the house is beach of Sandova - a hit with young Athenians who play bat and ball to the tunes of a DJ. Further along the beach is an area perfect for families with shallow, clear waters which are perfect for snorkeling.

Highlights

More information about the region can be founds on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peloponnese

* Enjoy Kalamata olives by their hundreds in the home town of the delicacy

* Bask on the unspoilt beach of Sandova

* Relax and eat fresh fish while watching the sun set in the pretty fishing hamlet of Kitries

* Trek the Taygetos mountains and imagine the ancient Spartans doing the same

* Have an adrenaline kick with watersports in Kalamata

* Explore the splendid ruins of ancient Messini and Olympia

* Marvell at the wonderful stalactite and stalagmite formations at Diros Caves

* Coming in winter? No problem, there is a ski resort only 1 hour away near Tripolis

* Or don't move from the village, just kick back and look at the most spectacular scenery you could imagine

Messinia

Megali Mandenea and the surrounding area is popular mainly with Greeks who know about it. It is not on the usual tourist map - which is why it is such a find. However with Easyjet and other major airlines now flying into Kalamata it is best to enjoy this area now before it becomes too popular.

Kalamata is a bustling Greek city which rests on a sweeping bay where you can sit and enjoy a coffee and watch the locals promenade each evening.

The area is unspoilt and stunning with plenty to do. Once you visit the Peloponnese - you'll be back.

"Unspoilt Greece"

A beautiful and comfortable house with a magnificent view located in a very small authentiek village half an hour drive from Kalamata (great daily vegetable market!). The surrounding veranda is very pleasant, even at the warmest moment of the day. We fell in love with the house, unspoilt Greece and the friendly villagers.
The house contains four bedrooms and bathrooms and is well equipped. It is comfortable staying with 8 people. The master bedroom and bathroom are huge, the other bedrooms are rather small. Not all beds are suitable for people taller then 1.90 m.
There are enough towels (clean ones in the midst of the week) and also a beach towel for every guest. Cooking is pleasant with olive oil and herbs available.
The village houses some authentic taverna where the Greek food is good. For daily shopping, going to the beautiful beaches and for visiting other places a car is needed.
The local manager is very pleasant and helpful. He speaks English well and makes you feel welcome. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every minute of it!

"A Real Greek Gem"

This is by far the best place I've stayed in 6 years of renting villas. The pool, the living space, the BBQ - everything was just right - even down to the children's pool toys. Our party of 8 had the most amazing time. The area is so beautiful I couldn't quite believe my eyes. There are beaches, sites like Mystras and Ancient Messini nearby. I would recommend to anyone who wants to find the real Greece

"Simply Amazing"

In 5 or 6 years of renting villas across Europe this was the best place that we have stayed in. We spent a wonderful, relaxing week at Serenity House and I would recommend it to anyone. The views are some of the best that you could ever want, the pool, the facilities and the living space are perfect for relaxing and entertaining.
The location of the villa is also hard to beat. There are a huge variety of local beaches to choose from, the village's tavernas are great and the proximity to other sites of interest like Sparta is a definite plus. It was an easy drive from the airport, which was a bonus, and the mountain roads nearby are stunning to drive through.
Perfect for families or groups of friends. You'll love it.

"Luxurious accommodation in a magical setting"

I was fortunate to stay here last year with my family, including 2 teenage boys. I was enchanted by the whole package. The house easily accommodated us all, with plenty of space for large noisy family gatherings and space for private contemplation. The scenery is amazingly beautiful with stunning panoramic views. The local beach had quiet corners and vibrant beach bars . The nearby town of kalamata has everything you need, shops, supermarkets and lots of traditional taverns, cafes and wine bars. One of the most enjoyable aspects was its proximity to the wonderful area known as The Mani and great day trips such as Ancient Messini, ancient Olympia (amazing) and the little visited Mystras.
Well worth a visit. I cant wait to go back.

Thank you so much. It's fabulous when others enjoy what is indeed a magical place!

"A perfect paradise"

We have stayed at Serenity House for a few summers .The village itself is a typical Greek village with 4 excellent restaurants .We spent a good part of our time at Georges kafeneion by the church sipping cold beer and eating fresh and juicy kalamata olives with the odd sprinkling of proper Greek feta cheese. The villa is beautiful spacious and cool. What makes it so special is of course the swimming pool which was in constant use first thing in the morning and into the afternoon and evening.Sitting on the veranda with a book and an ice cold frappe looking at the scenery is a picture I wont forget. The villa is within easy reach of Sandove Beach for the teenagers -the sea is a bit cold to start with but persevere especially in the evening
The sunsets are beautiful.
We went to Stoupa a few times -a lovely little seaside village with excellent restaurants and beautiful sandy safe beaches
From Megali it is worth travelling to Koroni and taking a look at this medieval Venetian village port
We love the church on top of the hill near the castle at Koroni followed by souvlaki -pork kebabs
All in all the villa is a great place from which to travel plus get a real picture of Greek village life whilst enjoying all the comforts of a most beautiful home
