Casale di Sicilia is situated in Acquedolci, which is centrally located as regards Messina and Palermo. It is therefore a great base for exploring North-Eastern and North-Western Sicily, Taormina, the Alcantara Gorges and Cefalù, but there are also plenty of interesting things to see in the nearby surrounding area, like San Marco D'Alunzio (an ancient village set high upon a hill) Fragalà Abbey, the magnificent Nebrodi Park, the Tindari Sanctuary, Santo Stefano di Camastra (the village of ceramics) and Sant'Angelo di Brolo and Floresta, which are famous for their culinary traditions.

The Aeolian Islands can also be easily reached by a hydrofoil that leaves from Sant'Agata di Militello, a village just 10 minutes from the villa.

Day trips to the Aeolian Islands by motor yacht or days of sports fishing can be organised in Summer and deckchairs and beach umbrellas can be reserved at the beach concessions in Capo D'orlando.

Jeep tours can be organised all year round in the Nebrodi Park and the beautiful Catafurco waterfalls, as well as carriage rides in the park or trips to the lovely Marinello nature reserve.

The nucleus of the ancient farmhouse is a 17th century watchtower that was later converted into an olive press.

It remains a typical Sicilian casale, part of it designed to meet the needs of the farm, the other part a refined living space for its landed gentry owners, with little formal garden and antique majolica tiles on its floors.

The current owners have retained the original structure, restored the ancient stone-vaulting, and used natural pigments on the walls, yet have transformed the house into one that has all modern comforts. The spacious living room has a fireplace and a large window with lovely views over the lawn and swimming pool to the Tyrhenian sea and the Aeolian Islands. There is also an extremely well-equipped kitchen , and each elegant bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. Piccolo Casale has a lovely location, secluded and verdant, yet it is just 500 metres from the sea – perfect for anyone who likes to swim, yet wants peace and quiet at home.

The Sicily region

It's more than an island! Discover Sicily and discover the world. The world's first multicultural society, Sicily is Italy's (and Europe's) most historically cosmopolitan region, having been ruled by Asians, Africans and Europeans. Sicily is black and white and a million shades of grey. There's no other place on Earth like Sicily. Our island is a unique place full of art, archeology, history, folklore and breathtaking scenery. And, of course, great food. Sicily is almost a nation unto itself. The enchanting land where Archimedes taught and Saint Paul preached was a Greek colony, a Roman province, an Arab emirate and a Norman kingdom. The Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Swabians, Angevins and Aragonese made Sicily their own, leaving behind an eclectic history that you can still touch today.

Messina

Acquedolci overlooks the northern Tyrrhenian coast of Sicily, opposite to the Aeolian Islands, and grows at the foot of majestic Mount San Fratello, popularly called by locals "'u Munti" (the Mountain). The Mount is a limestone massif (710 m) which is home to the impressive cave of San Teodoro, an archaeological site that maintains records very rich and important history and anthropological fauna of Sicily.

Acquedolci is centrally located as regards Messina and Palermo. It is therefore a great base for exploring North-Eastern and North-Western Sicily, Taormina, the Alcantara Gorges and Cefalù, but there are also plenty of interesting things to see in the nearby surrounding area, like San Marco D'Alunzio (an ancient village set high upon a hill) Fragalà Abbey, the magnificent Nebrodi Park, the Tindari Sanctuary, Santo Stefano di Camastra (the village of ceramics) and Sant’Angelo di Brolo and Floresta, which are famous for their culinary traditions.
