The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Charente Maritime region
The Charentes area has great variety of beaches with sheltered coves backed with pine forest. Inland there are sleepy villages amidst rolling countryside of vineyards and fields of colourful sunflowers. With a sun-kissed climate to match the Cote D'Azur/Riviera you can enjoy a couples or family beach holiday within comfortable driving distance from the ports and numerous airlines to choose from if you prefer to fly.
Meschers-sur-Gironde area
Activities in the area include Jet Skiing, Windsurfing, boating and horse riding, sea fishing and fresh water fishing. From the port of Meschers you can arrange boat trips for sight seeing.
Meschers town is a short walk and has a daily market with delicious seafood, local grown fruit and vegetables. You can visit the shops, local store, supermarket and bakery that serves fresh bread, croissants and cakes. There are also many fine restaurants you can visit for very reasonable prices.
The beach is only 200 m from the apartment set in a beautiful cove with scenery of the stunning cliffs and pine trees.
The popular St George is a short bus or car drive away with another beach and more shops and restaurants.
A further bus/car drive away is the well known Royan a bustling resort with sweeping cafe-lined promenade and beach. There are 100's of restaurants and is shoppers paradise with its's high fashion shops.

I had an enjoyable holiday the beach was very close and the apartment was lovley.
Thank you for a great holiday the apartment was nice and we will deffinately return again.
Had a wonderful holiday - lovely flat and just generally enjoyed everything about the place. Now it's back to reality!! We would like to go again next year at approximately the same time, and I will contact you when I get an idea of dates. We had a great time loved the area and will be returning again.
