The spectacular Mount Kenya Forest hugs the town of Meru on all sides and the presence of two sacred lakes within a 30 minute drive makes it a worthwhile visit. The Sacred Lakes of Lake Nkunga and Lake Thai offer a glimpse of how the original Meru dwellers worshiped the mountain god and revered these sites over a 100 years ago. Meru has one of the highest production of milk in the country and a visit to one of the many Milk Bars is a must while in the area to taste the true taste of Kenyan milk, yoghurt and curdled milk. "Home away from Home"
The love and detail that as been put into this home is felt from the moment you enter the gates. We drove up to the end of the drive and entered the compound and just felt like we'd entered a little paradise. The housekeeper was there to greet us with freshly squeezed juices and tea, we felt very welcome. The beds are just what we hoped for and there was plenty of space and a warm fireplace for the evenings.....just what we needed for a few days stopover!
