A rare city find, this 2 bedroom 2 bath home-away-from-home features modern and elegant touches in a relaxed, spa-like setting.Sleeps 4 to 6 people. On-site parking available. Quiet residential block, no buses.The SpaceSet back from the street and hidden behind a nondescript wall, you pass through a blue gate and enter a large gravelled front garden.Beyond the door lies an expansive home garden and large double-size lap pool nestled among jungle greenery.The multi-winged home features stone-clad walls, casement wrought-iron windows and doors, and cement and wood decorative floors, with, industrial stainless steel fans throughout and soaring ceilings of 5.40 meters or 17 feet 8 inches high. Ambient lighting, all with dimmers, set the perfect get-away mood at a touch.A formal entry flows easily into living dining library and kitchen spaces, with large openings for gracious transitions. Three grand French doors open onto a lush garden of native, fragrant plants like yellow Oleander, Chaya, and passion fruit on the vine. A favorite haunt of hummingbirds, the garden is anchored by a majestic Ceiba tree, an important symbol in Mayan mythology.Off the library is a passage leading to the master bedroom suite lit with industrial lighting reclaimed from a ship. Luscious curtains separate the master bedroom suite from the library for maximum air flow.The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a chest of drawers, and ample illumination for midnight reading. An LG inverter air conditioner keeps things cool and dry. The master bathroom has an extra large polished cement shower with a custom-designed limestone sink. An unseen transom overhead completes the airy feel and adds natural glow during the day.A second bedroom is a private retreat separate from the main house, opening onto the private back garden and pool. It also has a queen size bed in an all white room surrounded by flowing curtains and birdsong. Local Artist Katrin Schikora makes the ethereal sconces that flick light about.The second bathroom is reached through the garden patio and is not en suite with the second bedroom. It serves as a bathroom for the garden bedroom, and also, for post-pool use. It has a floating ceramic-vessel sink, and a strong rain shower head with excellent water pressure.The kitchen is fully stocked featuring brand-name stainless steel appliances by Samsung, Cuisinart, Krups, and Bosch, and custom-designed lighting and cabinetry.Off the kitchen is a fruit and herb garden. Make agua de chaya and passion fruit smoothies with the bounty of herbs and fruits from the garden.Property size: 1,250 square meters (13,455 sq ft) Pool size: 11m x 4.5m x 1.7m (36' x 15' x 5.5')The NeighborhoodOnly eight blocks away is Plaza Grande (Zocalo) where you can visit the Cathedral of San Ildefonso, Governor's Palace, Casa de Montejo, Macay Museum, and Olimpo. In and around the plaza are many shops, restaurants, and cultural centers such as Teatro Peon Contreras, Pancho's, Piedra de Agua, Ki Hannah, Apoala, Trotters, and many more.Five blocks away is Santiago Square with it's food market and church. Tuesday night's Big Band Dance, active since the 1940's, is a must. "La68", is a local open air documentary and movie space showing movies 2 daily wed to sat, also w garden restaurant and a great gift shop. Also close by is "Lo Que Hay Cafe" a new vegan cafe, and "Maiz Canela y Cilantro Comida Corrida" is another favorite on 70 +55. Down along the Historical Camino Real (Calle 59), new galleries restaurants and bars are opening daily. How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
