We have named our pad "Station de Ski" as it is located just 20 metres from the piste, in the small resort of Mottaret and often referred to as one of the Three Valleys best kept secrets. The resort benefits from being the highest in the central valley and therefore enables easy access to the rest of the Three Valleys Ski Area.

Mottaret has a chilled out and relaxed vibe, yet is only a 15 minute free bus ride from the larger resort of Meribel.

The apartment has easy access to all amenities, including ski shops, a small supermarket, 'le hameau bar' and many excellent restaurants.

The Rhône-Alpes region

The French Alps are a popular holiday destination. The area is loaded with things to do, whether it be outdoor activities or visiting local historic towns and museums. They are well connected to several towns, and are popular year round, making them ideal for vacations in France.

A stunning mountain range, the Alps craggy peaks and snowcapped vistas provide unparalleled opportunities for skiers and snowboarders. There are over 200 resorts in the Alps, with the Three Valleys being home to some of the most most popular.

You can vist Chamonix which is home to the world's highest cable car, and Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Western Europe, is near Chamonix. Annecy has lantern lit lanes, Chambery contains the most history, and Grenoble is the largest city in the French Alps.

Weather gives way very rapidly and varies from summer to winter. With pleasant weather in the summer the valleys open up to lush green fauna and fields of wildflowers. Hiking, as well as rafting, mountain biking, and canoeing are popular. Paragliding and skydiving are also possible. There are three national parks and four regional parks within the Alps - Vanoise, Ecrins, and Mercantour.

Mottaret is one of the six major ski resorts in the Three Valleys ski area and is at the top of the central valley.

The combined Three Valleys ski area is the largest linked piste domain in the world with over 600km of piste and countless off-piste opportunities!

It is linked to Meribel by a free bus service but is in a a better position for skiing in the Three Valleys as at 1700m it is one of the higher resorts in the Alps. With direct access to Courchevel and Val Thorens, Mottaret is a good location for guaranteed snow. The ski season in Mottaret generally runs from the first week in December until the last week of April.

The central lifts running out of Mottaret go directly to the peaks of the valley. Mottaret is so well located that it is as quick to get to the top of the Courchevel valley than from any of the Courchevel resorts.

The summer season offers plenty to do in the area - hiking, biking, tennis, golf, rafting and paragliding are just some of the activities that can be orgainised from Mottaret.

"Idyllic place for our first skiing holiday"

Station de Ski is a very homely apartment, very clean and quaint but quite modern. We couldn't have been closer to the slopes, shops, and lifts. There is a bus stop to Meribel right out side the … More

"Great Accomadation - Excellent Location"

The accomadation was excellent, fresh coffee in the morning with a view across the slopes. If you want a skiing trip without the walking to the slopes; then this is perfect. When they say it is ski-in and ski-out; it really is.

I stayed there with my wife and another couple; and it was ideal for dining in, eating and drinking out within a few minutes walk and there is a free bus service from right outside the front door that takes you into Meribel.

Beds were very comfortable, warm, great kitchen and I could even play movies and music from my IPhone through the TV!

We'll definately be back!!!!

"Views and Skiing fantastic!!"

I travelled to the Station de Ski for a week in January 2011, I was a bit apprehensive due to the lack of snow that had been reported but upon arriving at the aprtment my fears were gone. The Apartment is very traditional and has just recieved a lounge and kitchen refit which is very nice. The piste is about 15m from the back door and you can ski back to the door after a hard day on the slopes. I have to hand it to the 3 valleys they worked non stop to keep the pistes open and we did not have one bad day.I would highly recommend this apartment and i will be returning in the near future.
