At the end of an impressive, tree-lined avenue, once the drive of a large country house, lies this enchanting folly. Built in an elevated position in the mid 19th century as an observation tower for the ladies of the big house to watch the Hunt over neighbouring fields below, the building has been painstakingly restored and imaginatively converted by its current owners to provide highly unusual, tranquil and interesting accommodation for two people - a special place to stay in a beautiful setting.

In a private setting within the grounds of the owners' house, the Folly is arranged over three floors with interesting, hexagonal shaped rooms. The layout and design have been carefully researched and are complemented by tasteful décor and furnishings throughout. Visitors will be intrigued and delighted by this extremely unusual hideaway, the perfect place to relax in this lovely area.

Stairs to first floor sitting room with woodburner, comfortable seating, writing table and sash windows with internal shutters affording fine views over the owners' grounds; access to exterior spiral staircase. On the borders of Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset and about a mile from the village of Mere (shops, pubs and a well-known wine importer), The Folly at Castlebridge is particularly well-placed for a wide variety of visitor attractions. The magnificent Palladian mansion of Stourhead (NT) and its world-famous gardens are only 2 miles away, while The Georgian city of Bath (a UNESCO World Heritage site), Salisbury and Wells with their superb cathedrals, Stonehenge, Longleat Safari Park and Cheddar Gorge and Caves are all less than an hour's drive. The South Dorset coast and the New Forest National Park are not much further. The Folly also offers superb walking, with “The Monarch's Way” accessible just off the driveway.
