"Delightful in its simplicity and elegance"
The apartment is perfect for a couple. The shower is a little cramped if you are tall, but we were very happy and I believe it is outstanding value for money. Well presented and clean and in a good … More

"Charming but let down by bathroom facilities"
The Riviera Palace is a very impressive building from the outside and, upon entering the vast main hallway, you are greeted with an appealing sense of faded grandeur. This is continued as you first enter the apartment with its eclectic collection of “shabby-chic” furniture and vast windows overlooking the beautiful garden which provides both a quick route to town and a peaceful oasis on a sunny day.
These initial positive impressions were however gradually eroded during the course of our week's stay by some of the impracticalities of the apartment. Despite the claims in the description of facilities, the kitchen contains neither a microwave or a freezer. The allure of 14ft ceilings is diminished when dissected by a mezzanine resulting in just over six feet headroom in the entrance lobby, bedroom and both “bathrooms” – I am six foot and had to duck to comb my hair and avoid singeing by the recessed spotlights!
The latter proved by far the biggest disappoint as the claim of “2 bathrooms of which 1 family bathroom and 1 shower room” is simply untrue. The mezzanine bedroom has a sliding door to a wc with small hand basin while the downstairs bathroom has a wc, basin and very small hip bath with shower attachment. Due to the restricted headroom and high level of the bath the only way you could possibly shower was to sit or kneel – assuming you were agile or trim enough to do so in such a confined space – but then the shower head was so clogged up that this resulted in little more than a trickle. To claim that a property with such a facility, combined with the very tight curved staircase, is “suitable for people with restricted mobility” is very misleading.
I appreciate that some may accept such antiquated bathing facilities as quaint and in keeping with the character of the apartment but I suspect that after a long hot day sightseeing or on the beach the yearning for a refreshing shower would soon overcome such sentiment. Certainly if we were made aware of the true nature of the bathroom facilities, rather than being misled by the erroneous description, we would have opted for one of the other apartments available in this majestic building.

"Awesome stay in an old palace ..."
We stayed nearly a week in this apartment and loved that it was in an old palace. The walk down through the gardens to town was lovely and didn't take long. The bus and train stations were within… More

We did enjoy our 2-week stay in this facility. the apartment is well-equipped with anything you can ask for and perfectly located within 15-min walk from the beach. Since we rented a car, free parking spot was highly appreciated. Access to the private garden was also a bonus. I can't really name any disadvantages.
