This beautiful region boasts a craggy coastline with the Alps plunging straight into the Mediterranean sea. In the north of the region lie the Alps with snowy peaks and sunny ski resorts, which are only an hour's drive from the sea. This area is a perfect destination for both beach relaxation and ski holidays.
The Menton area
Situated at the extreme south east of France, Menton is a city of gardens, a seaport, and beach resort.
Its exceptional sunlight and the subtropical climate make Menton ideal for growing orange trees, lemon trees, palm trees,and mimosa.
It has been called the most beautiful town on the French Riviera, every year in February, the Lemon Festival takes place in the town, attracting many tourists to this special, vibrant and colourful town.

The four of us, all full size adults, drove down to Menton in Sept'. It was far from the first time my disabled wife and I had spent time in Menton, a favorite, "sort of French" holiday resort. Finding the apartment could not have been simpler; the charming young lady, who administered the arrangements, met us on the sea front, we followed to the parking, which was excellent (and free). The flat, accessed by a lift, is two minutes away. Well appointed, with all modern conveniences (T.V. sat', radio, books, games.), we could ask for no more. A comfortable living/dinning room accesses a balcony with sea views where we spent most of or time when in the flat. One double and one Twin bedroom with good sized wardrobes both opened up onto another balcony; no view from this side but very convenient for drying things. The long narrow kitchen has all the gadgets that anyone could need for holiday cooking, including a dishwasher as well as clothes washing facilities. Full breakfasts and roast dinners would be no difficulty; but why would you? With sea views and easy access to the esplanade the apartment enjoys not only a beautiful location, it is also a very practical location, a small supermarket with charming staff (the owner has a very good sense of humor, he needed it with my French) at the entrance to the block; butchers, bakers and everything else that you may need are within moments walk from the doors. The walk into Menton old town, proper, is a good distance but flat and is easily broken into bite sized chunks by coffee, beer, wine, stops at the many cafe's on the way. There is a very convenient and cheap bus service that covers the whole area as well as the rail station being five minutes walk so all those exotic places that I used to watch on 1960's T.V. shows are easily accessed without the use of a car. France and the Cote d' Azure is our favorite place to holiday; Adams apartment is the best, at an affordable cost, accommodation that we have had down on the Med' in our many years of holidaying in paradise and I'm happy to back that up, give me a call. |
