The Sicily region

Sicily - Timeless Island

"Who has never desired, at least, to know Sicily? Few people or no one; the fame of its beauty is universal, and the memory of it has to be linked to the history of the most widespread civilisations"...

"This is the preface to the volume that the Italian Touring Club has dedicated to Sicily in 1933. Looking to a few old pictures, we realize that the time has left its mark on the island; squares and streets are filled with cars, Sicilians have got rid of black scarves and their ancient customs, they have changed the face of the countryside. During the past Palermo was a prize mecca for the rich and powerful, today Sicily has to be thought as an island with thousand faces, poor and rich at the same time, closed and diffident in its noble decadence and so anxious to be integrated in the modern world and modern times, "a nation rather than a region, a nation with different identities".

During the summer you can find many events for food and wine, and you can discover the typical local wine production: red and white.

Menfi welcomes you 365 days a year, because every day in Menfi has an appointment with flavors and traditions, rituals and ideas, performances and wonders, sports, theater and magic, music and emotions. Be amazed by the unique environment that only Menfi can provide you, full of ancient memories and rich of historic and contemporary artistic expressions.

For the seventeenth time Menfi has won the Blue Flag thanks yo its clean sea and uncotaminated beaches. Since 1998, Menfi's sea has been giving a prize every year aster the first reward in 1992. So it has gained a record by Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), called "Historical Blue Flag".

Located at the center of a wide gulf, in south Sicily, the coast of Menfi spans across a heavenly scenario of beaches of fine sand or white pebbles and sheer diffs overlooking the sea. If you look beyond the shores, you can catch a glimpse of hills, the highlights of a rural landscape that fills the eyes with lush green and the heart with intense emotion.

Welcome to Menfishire, crossed by rivers, hills and valleys, a true heritage of nature, wines and gastronomic delights to be discovered, explores and experienced.

Hills with soft and amooth ridges spiral towards the variegated coastal strip. The land is especially fertile and changes by the span, from white, to red, to sandy, creating a natural “tapestry” that is exclusive to this area.
