La Groumelle is a perfect place from which to explore the Luberon National Park, its vineyards, the colourful markets of Isle sur la Sorgue, Coustellet and Apt and the beautiful hilltop villages of Gordes, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Lourmarin and Roussillon.
Menerbes area
Within the village of Menerbes, one of the most beautiful villages in France and an easy 15 minute walk away, there is a magnificent 14th Century church, spectacular views of the Luberon, several restaurants and art galleries as well as a bakery, general store, post office and chemist.
The Luberon is right on the doorstep and can be explored on foot along the clearly marked hiking trails or by bicycle with several velo routes offering the chance to venture off the beaten track. Less than an hour's drive away are the famous museums and monuments of Avignon, Orange, Arles, St. Remy de Provence, les Baux de Provence as well as the natural beauty of the Camargue, Mt. Ventoux and the Cote d'Azur.

Further details indoors: The house retains a wealth of original period features, including floor tiles and exposed beams, that have been carefully preserved, the most impressive of which is the vast stone fireplace in the formal salon, one of two working fireplaces at La Groumelle.
The property is wonderfully cool in summer as a result of its thick, stone walls and is fitted with radiators throughout for winter days. .
Further details outdoors: La Groumelle is set in grounds of approximately 1.5 acres beyond which lie vineyards, fruit orchards and woodland. Directly outside the house is a large graveled terrace looking out across La Groumelle's own vines to the valley beyond and shaded by several mature trees.
There are two large stone tables for al fresco dining, one in the enclosed courtyard surrounded by stone walls, climbing roses and Provencal herbs and one larger table situated under the leafy branches of the quince trees on the terrace beside the house's water well.
From the terrace there is a small path that leads to a grass lawn and stone benches with views looking up to the medieval, hilltop village of Menerbes. There is also a swimming pool surrounded by local stone and plane trees as well as an all weather tennis court.
