About the home

Maison Olive is a Provence rental house that has everything going for it: a great location, in the sought-after hill-top village of Menerbes, a large garden, and a pool, both rarities for a village house. The house also has new and very comfortable furniture and important modern touches like WiFi internet, satellite TV and good bathrooms.

The house is furnished in typical Provencal style. It is comfortable and furnishings are of a type much higher than normally found in rental homes. Bathrooms and kitchen have been finished to the highest standard, linen and towels are luxury. The house sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms, the master bedroom and en suite bathroom are upstairs, and the other two bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs. Also downstairs is the living room/dining room with wood-burning fireplace, plasma TV with satellite channels and DVD player, and wireless internet. Off this room is the garden and terrace, and the kitchen to the side.

There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a guest WC. The master bedroom is upstairs, it has a double bed, and an en suite bathroom with bathtub, overhead shower, basin and WC. Downstairs are two more bedrooms, one a double and one a twin with two single beds. The bathroom for these bedrooms (pictured left) has a shower, basin and WC. Both linen and towels are of a luxurious standard.

The kitchen is very well equipped with a an extra-large Smeg oven and cooker, dishwasher, microwave. In the larder are the fridge-freezer, washing machine and clothes dryer.

Further details outdoors:
There is a wonderful pool area and barbeque on one of the levels in the terraced garden. The pool area is shared with the owners when they are there but they travel frequently. There is a pool kitchen with ice machine, dish washer, fridge and a toilet.

Outside Maison Olive is a private garden with its own BBQ, outdoor table, hammock and various 'garden games' such as boule.

Maison Olive has its own private part of the garden which is spacious and lawned with big oak trees providing shade. There is a table and chairs for 8 people.

There is also a terrace at the back with a barbecue.

Further details

The property is available for rental from October to June (inclusive) each year. Rental is weekly (Saturday changeover) but the owners are flexible and willing to discuss longer periods at special rates. A full Rental Agreement is provided prior to the transaction being completed. If you are interested in the period July-Sept (inclusive) please contact us.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Vaucluse region

The property is in the heart of the 'Golden Triangle' - Menerbes, Bonnieux, Gordes and Roussillon. The climate is wonderful with temperate days and a warm summer. It is steeped in history harking back to Roman times and many medieval villages.

There is always something to do: Historic abbeys, charming wine estates, gourmet restaurants, fantastic shopping and historic sites.

The Menerbes area

Menerbes attained fame 20 years ago when Peter Mayle wrote A Year in Provence while he lived just outside the village. For a while Menerbes was on the tour buses' itinerary, but now it has slipped back to its old self, without losing any of the beauty that drew Mayle here. The village has a grocery store, butcher and baker, four restaurants, a snack bar and a bar/tabac/newsagent. All of this is 150 metres from the house. Menerbes is one of the 'perched villages' which the Luberon is noted for - villages piled on top of hills for protection from invading armies and plagues - an arrangement that today has visitors reaching for their cameras at every turn.

Menerbes rises out of the valley of vineyards and orchards like a ship hugging the coastline of the Luberon mountain. It is in the Luberon Natural Park, which ensures that new building is strictly limited. You can walk from the village onto hiking paths into the mountain, or cycle from one village to the next.

Menerbes is very well located in the so-called 'Golden Triangle' for the other perched villages of the Luberon - Gordes, Bonnieux, Roussillon, Lacoste, Oppede le vieux are 5-15 minutes away by car - as well as must-see towns like Avignon, St Remy, Arles, Marseille, Nimes, and Aix en Provence. The Mediterranean is just over an hour away, and the French Riviera 2.5 hours.

There is a market every day in one of the surrounding villages.

“perfect property in a perfect location” We just returned from our holiday in France, the highlight of our trip was our week stay at Maison Olive. We are fans of renting self-catering homes and apartments when traveling and owners Lovonne and Simon made the process very easy. Maison Olive is a first class rental with generous room sizes and can easily accommodate 6 guest in the 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. You can see the love the owners have for their property with the decorations and decor throughout this home. You will find every convenience, including a fabulously equipped kitchen, comfortable bedding, flat screen TV, Wi-Fi... the list is endless, just know that Lovonne has thought of everything and provided it for her guests use. The location is also perfect, the beautiful village of Menerbers is only a 10 minutes stroll away, here you'll find several restaurants and shops. When you venture out you will find many of the must-see charming hill towns of Provence within a 20/30 minute drive. I hate to sound like I'm a paid agent but this is a perfect property in a perfect location with charming and gracious hosts.
