Rented as a whole this property is ideal for two families to holiday together, but has facilities to enable you to relax with privacy when you require it. The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
Lake Como is the most scenically stunning of the Italian lakes: surrounded by tall peaks that rise more or less directly from the water's edge, the luxuriance of its vegetation is equalled by the opulence of the local villas and palazzi; and when such things begin to cloy, there are good hikes in its mountainous hinterland.
It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations. All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquility and chic resorts such as Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.
Menaggio / Plesio area
The small historic village of Plesio is 3 km away from the property and has a grocery shop, bar, tobacconist, newspaper shop, post office, bank (open only some days during the week), restaurants and pizzeria, beauty centre, hairdresser and bus stop. A small market every 15 days on Thursday morning.
Plesio sits 600m high above the beautiful waters of Lake Como in the Italian Alps and well known above all for it springwater "Chiarella" here bottled and for various mountain walks.
From this area, you can wander the mountains to find historical churches or challenges on Mount Grona, or drive the 10 minutes down to Menaggio on the Lake, or on to Como, the city at the end of the main arm of the 2 pronged lake, 40 minutes by car. Beautiful Bellagio is a short ferry ride away across the water, and everywhere you look is scenery that has bedazzled tourists and travelers for centuries. Lake Como and its surrounding mountains has been the top destination for Europe’s elite for hundreds of years and now it can be yours too.
In Menaggio (8km away, a 15 - 20 min drive) there is a public beach and a wonderful 'Lido di Menaggio' for swimming, cafes and dining, the famous promenade, resplendent in flowers and palm trees, shopping and markets, and a fine golf is available in Croce, minutes up the hillside towards Lake Lugano. The house is perfectly positioned for hiking, mountain climbing, biking and trips around the Lake and into Switzerland. The major “Interstate” highway is minutes away. A day on Lake Como by excursion boat is one of the highlights of your holiday!

Further details indoors: Ideally designed to allow you to holiday with friends and family at once in absolute comfort whilst providing you with space and privacy. The house sleeps a total of 10 people but smaller groups can be catered for as well;
The larger of the two houses (Bella Una) sleeps up to 6 people in three bedrooms. There is a reverse level open plan living area with a cosy wood burning stove, a complete entertainment system (SAT TV, DVD/CD player with 5.1 surround sound), kitchen and dining area all on the first floor which takes full advantage of the spectacular lake & mountain views. On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms, a third bedroom with bunk beds and a bathroom with a shower. To the side is an open terrace, ideal for 'al fresco' dining & access to the garden & pool.
The smaller house, sleeps up to 4 people in two bedrooms. There is a reverse level open plan living area with a unique stone fireplace, SAT TV & DVD player, kitchen and dining area all on the first floor, taking full advantage of the spectacular views. On the ground floor there is a master bedroom, a second bedroom with twin beds and a bathroom with a shower.
You can enjoy the BBQ grill in the big garden while swimming in the pool (7.5m x 4m) just at the back of the houses.
The property gives access to a great number of scenic mountain walks with direct access to the Menaggio Rifugio, some 1.5hrs walk. Alternatively during the winter months there is also the option to travel to the various ski resorts: Madesimo & St Moritz, which are both approx 1.5hrs away.
Given this properties mountainside location, there is a rough road (approx. 300m) approaching the houses. The road is quite narrow so we would recommend it best to arrive in daylight.

CLEANING FEES If renting both houses, sleeping up to 10 people, - there is a final cleaning cost of €120 when staying for one week & €150 when staying for two weeks (the final cleaning fee for the larger house slepping up to 6 people will be EU 70 for 1 week & EU 90 for 2 weeks) with all bed-linen & towels included. If staying for two weeks or more – the bed-linen & towels will be refreshed after each week. All utility usage such as water, electricity & gas, are included in the rental price.

PAYMENTS BY CREDIT/DEBIT CARD & WIRE TRANSFER There are no additional charges for credit or debit card payments. However, all bank transfer fees are the responsibility of the sender. To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our booking form online and pay a 30% deposit. The remaining balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.
