All the conveniences of home located within the historic Old Town of Plesio, high above and overlooking Lake Como and the town of Menaggio. Within walking distance of the local deli/coffee/sports bar; or drive a short distance to Menaggio for strolling on the promenade by the lake. Hop the ferry and in minutes you are in Bellagio, or visiting any one of the other villages up and down the lake. Take your rental car for a short drive to Switzerland and Lake Piano or Lugano, or to the very exclusive golf club located a short distance away.

Casa Belinda is a wonderful carefree location close to water activities on the lake and hiking and mountain climbing just above the town. Local hiking or serious mountain climbing are both posibilities, and churches and ancient dwellings dot the area. Just about anything is available; or just kick back and relax on the terrace and enjoy the mountain air with a breathtaking view of the lake below and the majestic Alps spread before you. And enjoy the work free house: all linens supplied, washing machine and drier, fully stocked kitchen and large dining table, Satellite TV and Internet access. Stroll the historic pathways within the little village... buy local produce from the traveling vega/fruit and local wine truck that comes to the churchyard just steps from the house...and park your car securely in your very own private garage. Everything is here: cozy warm fires in the fireplace, easy access to many locations, and friendly locals.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area

The Lombardy region of Italy is noted for its beauty and history. Lake Como is the premier tourist atraction of all the Italian Lakes. It has been so for centuries, Europe's elite have traveled up and down the lake via ferry, hydrofoil or auto, visiting the many quaint and wonderful resorts and historic areas; Villa Carlotta, Tremezzo, Bellagio and Como. Mountain excursions to surrounding retreats and churches dating to 1000 AD; expert slopes for mountain climbing, walking and hiking, dining, shopping in fine stores with silks and leaher items, strolling the promenades of Lugano and Lake Como; all of these and more bring tourists to this wonderful area. From this location, with its summer breezes and mountain air you can easily reach Lugano in 1/2 an hour, St Moritz in 1 hour, and Milan in 1 and 1/2 hours. We provide information for you on local attractions as well as places to go and things to see in the area. Whether you come to Italy to rest or tour or shop; this is a great place to start your vacation!

Menaggio / Plesio area

Menaggio and the surrounding area include small towns with all the amendities of shopping and dining, with access to larger towns down the lake or in Switzerland. There are mall and large shopping areas in Como and near Lake Piano in Switzerland, with Standa supermarkets and local high end stores.

How to get there

You may rent a car at the airport and drive to Menaggio, or take the airport train to Como and rent a car there and then drive up the lake to Menaggio. You may also take the ferry or Hydrofoil to Menaggio and take the bus to Plesio, but a rental car is highly recommended.

The house is located down a pathway by the local church, taking you into the historic old town with its picturesque cobbled streets and granite houses. The house is completely new with an terrace off the loft area where you can lounge and look out over the beautiful lake and the small villages on the other shore. At night the lights of these towns twinkle below, lending a holiday air to your vacation home. Inside there is a loft area for reading, or change the convertible chairs into beds for the children. A large dining table in the kitchen allows for 8 people to dine. Satellite TV, CD or DVD is within reach, as is Internet access. The cozy fireplace is also located here. The washing machine and drier are just outside the front door walkway, in a small room where you can store your luggage until needed. The private garage is located by the church. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom, and the bathroom has a toilet, bidet, shower and washbasin. All linens and towels, kitchen items are included. Local assistance is available if you need anything, and the cell phone number of our property manager is included in your package. Th gas stove has a large oven, 4 burners, plenty of dishes and utensils.

Kitchen includes gas stove, oven, tea pot, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, full sets of dishes and utensils. The upper terrace has lounge chairs and wrought iron tables and chairs and umbrellas. There is an extra aero-bed for another child if needed.

The town of Menaggio is located just 3 km away for shopping and strolling. Local cafes and pizza spots, as well as fine dining are available. There is a local shop that sell fresh fish from the lake, and a restaurant overlooking the water that has " to die for" hot chocolate and pastries! The little town has everything you need to make your stay easy and pleasant; or drive to Switzerland which is 20 minutes away... or Como, for fine shopping and a larger dining experience. Milan is about 1 hour 30 minutes drive; St. Moritz about an hour...

If you are looking for a quiet location to enjoy the beauty of the countryside and easy access to roadways leading into Switzerland, around the lake and other areas of Northern Italy this is the place for you. It is quiet and cozy, but close to everything. Honest friendly people live here and you can walk freely and enjoy the old town and its inhabitants. Live among history, walk on the mountainside and to small villages nearby; golf in world famous courses ( and maybe meet George Clooney), or visit Villa Carlotta, Bellagio, Como or any of the other beautiful locations on the lake...This is what vacation is all about.....

Conditions

High season in the Alps/Lake Como area runs from March to October. The weather is mild and sunny. It is not unusual to wear T-shirts around Easter....If you are planning to book for this period you should do so soon to insure your desired week. The home is cleaned and new linens and towels provided for each new guest. Contact with our property manager insures that you are taken care of during your stay. Monica speaks 5 languages, and has access to information regarding the local happenings and area information. Everything is provided to insure you have the vacation you planned and also wanted..

For March and November there is a 8 Pound heating charge per day added to the rental.

There is a one time cleaning charge of 30 Pounds.

A security deposit of 90 Pounds is required, which will be refunded after departure.

A 50% deposit of the rental is required with the booking plus the cleaning fee. The balance is due 1 month prior to the rental. Any cancellations should be made 3 months prior to the rental date. Deposits will be refunded if the dates can be rebooked ( less 50 pounds). A welcome flier and rental agreement will be sent upon request. You may pay with PayPal funds, US Funds, British Pounds or Euros. A fee may be required for certain currencies. Please request fee amount when booking. Rental rates may be changed without prior notice on this site, but we will honor any rates shown at the time of booking.

Guestbook for Casa Belinda

We enjoyed sitting on the terrace looking at the lake. We traveled to Switzerland and to many of the villages you recommended, and ate at the Don Lisander in Como ( great food!), as well as that wonderful cafe in Menaggio! And the little icecream parlor at the end of the promenade..... A wonderful time....

And after our travels we found ourselves looking forward to strolling down the cobbled street to Casa Belinda for more pasta in our own kichen......
