About the home

The elegant holiday apartment has a spacious living and dining room with open fully equipped kitchen and a lovely terrace with lake view for outdoor dining, sunbathing and relaxing. Two nice bedrooms one with double bed and one bedroom with two twin beds. Two bathrooms (one with bathtube, WC and bidet and one with shower bidet and WC).
Swimming pool with lake view and large lawns for shared use.
Garage for one car and secure parking for second car.

The residence is situated on higher grounds and surrounded by large gardens, the swimming pool ( open from june to september) and the gardens are for shared use. From every corner a splendid relaxing view over lake Como and mountains.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

Menaggio is on lake como halfway the north-west coast, at 35 km from Como City and 25 km from Lugano and 66 km from Milan.

Climate: being on the south side of the alps, we benefit from a sheltered position against cold winds from northern europe. We have a very pelasant temperate climate , spring starts in April and the warmest month is July ( 30C) , but we are favoured with a lovely afternoon breeze, so it is never too hot . Autumn turns into winter and winter into spring, with no big differences in temperature, but the days are of course short. In winter we usually have sunny weather - with now and then a rainy day and it might snow once or twice! We are at 60-90 minutes from the ski slopes ( Madesimo, St. Moritz, Bormio , Gotthard region and San Bernardino. )

Lake Como was already known to the romans, ( roman churches, archeological sites), from the 12th century the area was a way-through fro trade and less peaceful wanderings. From the 18th century wealthy families from milan built their sumer houses and some of them can be visited , famous are beautiful are: villa Carlotta, Balbianello, Melzi)

The Menaggio area

Menaggio is a lively little town with a weekly market where the locals from the surrounding mountain villages meet for a chat and bring their goat cheeses for sale. Menaggio has cosy piazza's , narrow streets, trendy shops, good restaurants and pizzeria's and a stroll on the boulevard in the afternoon or evening is a must. On higher grounds is the oldest golf course of Italy with a very tricky green and also with a renowed restaurant where the rich and beautiful meet . Filmstars and footballplayers have discovered lake Como and try to become owner of a lake-side mansion.

In Menaggio you cross the lake and visit Bellagio and Varenna with the ferry, or take a full day ticket and crisscross from village to village.

Visit the beautiful villas (Villa Carlotta, Villa Balbianello, Villa Melzi, Villa Monastero) and the resort villages by boat and explore the hiking paths and the beautiful panoramic views over the surrounding landscape. Boat timetable: http://www.navigazionelaghi.it/

“Extremely well equipped and comfortable apartment” La Gaetina is extremely well equipped, and was ideal for our family who were eating in. Every kitchen implement we needed was available, and the fridge and stove were family size. The rooms and bathrooms were spotless with plenty of storage and the view from the spacious balcony (where we ate many of our meals) is superb. The setting is very peaceful, well away from the noise of the main road, and the children were occupied for hours roaming all over the grounds. There is a 40 min hike through the forest with great lake views above the apartment to Nobiallo, from where you can walk along the lake front on the old road to Menaggio (about 20 mins further on) and it is about a 20 min walk with only a few sections on the busy road to the village of Sant'Abbondio. We were very well looked after by Denni, the booking agent, and Sonja, who handled the keys. La Gaetina is an ideal place for families wanting some R&R, or couples wanting a romantic spot.

“what a lovely appartment” We enjoyed our stay in your appartment. Everything we needed was there, the view was lovely and the children did like the swimmingpool. We certainly do come back!

My wife and I have rented condominiums and homes all around the world. This unit and its setting was one of the best we have encountered. The apartment was spacious, fully stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen etc., and it was nicely furnished. The most amazing part of the unit is the view from each of the large and private terraces. The setting is truly spectacular. We thought Menaggio was lovely, and it was wonderful to be able to travel from there by ferry all around the lake. The geographical location of this condo has to be one of the very best on the lake in terms of views, quiet, and access to the lake and hiking trails. we loved our stay there!
