The Lombardy / Lake Como Area
We know you will be inspired by the beauty and diversity of Italy's Lake District and the Alps that surround Villa Isella which has an incredible central location from which to enjoy the best that the area has to offer. Situated between Lake Como & Lake Lugano Villa Isella is the ideal location to explore both Italian & Swiss lakes.
You can walk a few minutes to Lago di Piano which is a popular conservation area & nature reserve or to the village of Carlazzo to one of the local bars or restaurants.
Menaggio & Porlezza are only a few minutes drive away and both offer wonderful views of the area. Menaggio is the main provincial village on the western side of the lake and its promenade is lined with palms and an abundance of flowers during Summer months.
Piazza Garibaldi is Menaggio's main square which is lined with boutiques, cafe bars, ice cream parlours and is where the locals relax and enjoy the fine Italian food.
From Menaggio you can visit many of the palatial villas open to the public, set in fantastic gardens. An excellent way to view the villas is by boat which will transport you around Lake Como, also enabling you to visit the many villages and towns including infamous Varenna, Bellagio, and the town of Como at the South of the lake, which should not be missed for it’s beauty, café culture and shopping.
Everything you need is here in Menaggio from banks, supermarkets to the main passenger & car ferry stop which allows you to access and enjoy everything the lake has to offer.
People choose Menaggio for it's undeniable beauty and temperate climate, spring begins in April and the warmest months are July & August ( 30C). Temperatures are warm from April to late October and sunshine continues through November although the days are shorter during the winter period.
The cosmopolitan Swiss town of Lugano is only 20 minutes drive and offers an array of shops, bars restaurants a casino and an abundance of tourist attractions. Lugano is where Swiss civilisation meets Italian and offers palm trees, picturesque boulevards, stunning views of the lake and the Alps, and plenty of opportunity for outdoor and indoor activities.

Guestbook
J Barber - June 2008
The drive up to the Villa for the first time is something that we'll remember for a long time. The stunning views, winding roads and brilliant sunshine was something out of a film. Once we got to the Villa we weren't disappointed either. The grounds and pool are well kept and very quaint and the neighbours are very friendly.
Walking into the Villa only extended our excitement. Everything was well presented, tasteful and comfortable. We decided to eat in a few nights and found everything we needed (including pasta and tomatoes provided by owner- thank you!). We're usually against returing to the same place for a holiday but we'll definitely be making a return visit to Villa Isella, in fact I'm already trying to book the flights as we speak!
