About the home

The Villa (ID 139) is extremely spacious (around 240 m2 - over 2500 sq ft ) and is set on three levels, so is perfect for entertaining. The interior is modern and light, featuring spectacular timbered ceilings, tasteful interior decoration blended with quality furniture, ensuring an extremely comfortable and memorable stay!

All the principal rooms have French windows leading out onto balconies or terraces with those facing south offering a beautiful panoramic view of Lake Como and the surrounding mountains.

The open plan living/dining room is impressive with a cosy wood-burning stove with firewood supplied by us. Conveniently this room as well as the Villa's other principal rooms benefit from air-conditioning, for added comfort during the summer months.

Entertainment in the living room includes a 32" plasma TV offering Sky Italia and BBC national and regional channels, a DVD Player with a wide collection of DVDs and a Hi-fi system with a wide collection of CDs.

There is a separate fully-fitted contemporary style kitchen/breakfast room equipped with all the necessary appliances you could wish for.

The Villa accommodation consists of three very comfortable double bedrooms, one bedroom with twin single beds for adults and a further bedroom with twin single beds on a mezzanine level above the living room, which is perfect for children.

Bathroom facilities are extensive, offering a luxury bathroom with relaxing jacuzzi and two other modern power Shower rooms with all the necessary luxury fixtures and fittings desired.

Villa Camellia has recently undergone a program of enhancement - New facilities include a working pizza oven, games room with games console, table football and other types of entertainment perfect for children, an additional newly fitted kitchen and dining area is also in place on the garden level and a new area with the sauna and gym will be finished soon.

The extensive balconies and terraces offer enchanting views of the Lake and the totally enclosed and secluded garden which is set on terraces with pine and olive trees flanked with orange and lemon trees. There is a spacious terrace offering delightful views of Lake Como and the Alps and is comfortably furnished with outdoor teak tables and chairs, a barbecue and outdoors lighting for daytime and evening dining.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.

It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.

All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.

Warming, inspriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto
narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

The Menaggio area

The centre of Menaggio is less than a mile away from the Villa and regular ferries provide easy access to all parts of the Lake from the town, especially to Varenna which offers a fast and reliable train service to Milan. The Villa is conveniently 12 miles from Switzerland and Lugano, approximately 18 miles from Como City and 50 miles from St Moritz.

Menaggio is a picturesque village nestled in a convenient central position on the lake. It is a historical lake side town with many quaint neighbourhoods which extend north along the lake and up into the green hills and valleys. Menaggio offers stunningly beautiful views of Lake Como and the majestic mountains which surround it overlooked by the Alps to the North.

There is a fine selection of restaurants, delis, fresh grocers and of course delicious gelato and pizza! To keep you moving and fit while on vacation: play a round of golf at the infamous Menaggio & cadenabbia Golf Club, mini golf, hiking trails, mountain biking, free climbing, swimming and a new orienteering field all located in stunning locations -these are just a few possibilities offered to you in and around Menaggio. There is a museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci at the new “Lido Giardino” and in the Val Senagra Park, a museum featuring the value of antique buildings, artisan and peasant objects and creations. Other culturally rich events including music, fireworks, public markets and local festivals are to be enjoyed.

Menaggio’s tourist office www.menaggio.com, situated in the main square, Piazza Garibaldi, offers a great deal of information detailing what’s going on in and around the lakes, sightseeing, history and sporting activities.

During the summer the area boasts fantastic opportunities for many activities including mountain biking, cycling, horse riding, walking, many water sports including kite surfing, fishing, tennis, and of course golf at the historic Mennagio & Cadenabbia Golf Club www.menaggio.it.The Ferries run from Menaggio to both the North and South of Lake Come making it an ideal centre for sightseeing. The lovely lakeside and harbour have many cafes where you can sit and relax while watch the world go by.

Outdoor activities abound in this area and are very popular with holiday makers. An18 hole golf course, mountain biking, water skiing and lots of other sports are all here to be enjoyed by you and your family.
