About the home

The apartment is located in the main Piazza of Menaggio, making it an ideal base to explore all the towns & villages around Lake Como. There is no need for a car as the ferry dock is only 800m away but if you do have one, then there is a private garage parking with the apartment.

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

This lovely penthouse apartment is arranged over two floors with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is fully fitted, perfect for a self-catering holiday stay. In the living area, the entertainment includes a flat screen satellite TV with DVD player and a stereo CD player. No need to worry about climbing stairs, there is a spacious elevator up to the penthouse!

For those of you who need to keep in touch with work or family, Wi-Fi Access is also available in the property.

Golf & Skiing

Italy's oldest golf course, established in 1907 with 18 holes Par 70, is located above Menaggio near Croce, in Grandola ed Uniti, approx. 20 min. by car. Tel: +39 344 321 03. Green Fees: Weekdays EU 55, Weekends and Holidays EU 70 Euros; Golf Cart Rental EU 36. Restaurant Golf at the club serves fantastic food and is well recommended.The closest major ski resort is Madesimo toward the Splugen Pass, which is approx. 1 hr 20 min. by car. St. Moritz in Switzerland is only 90 km by car. Other ski resorts are located in the Valtellina near Morbegno. The lake is beautiful to relax next to all year long - the scenery in the winter is some of the most striking, as the air is crisp, the visibility near perfect and the mountains capped in white snow.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.

Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.

It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.

All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.

Warming, inspriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto
narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

The Menaggio area

Menaggio is a picturesque village nestled in a convenient central position on the lake. It is a historical lake side town with many quaint neighbourhoods which extend north along the lake and up into the green hills and valleys. Menaggio offers stunningly beautiful views of Lake Como and the majestic mountains which surround it overlooked by the Alps to the North.

There is a fine selection of restaurants, delis, fresh grocers and of course delicious gelato and pizza! To keep you moving and fit while on vacation: play a round of golf at the infamous Menaggio & cadenabbia Golf Club, mini golf, hiking trails, mountain biking, free climbing, swimming and a new orienteering field all located in stunning locations -these are just a few possibilities offered to you in and around Menaggio. There is a museum dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci at the new “Lido Giardino” and in the Val Senagra Park, a museum featuring the value of antique buildings, artisan and peasant objects and creations. Other culturally rich events including music, fireworks, public markets and local festivals are to be enjoyed.

Menaggio’s tourist office www.menaggio.com, situated in the main square, Piazza Garibaldi, offers a great deal of information detailing what’s going on in and around the lakes, sightseeing, history and sporting activities.

During the summer the area boasts fantastic opportunities for many activities including mountain biking, cycling, horse riding, walking, many water sports including kite surfing, fishing, tennis, and of course golf at the historic Mennagio & Cadenabbia Golf Club www.menaggio.it.The Ferries run from Menaggio to both the North and South of Lake Come making it an ideal centre for sightseeing. The lovely lakeside and harbour have many cafes where you can sit and relax while watch the world go by.

From the entrance door, you step directly out onto the Piazza from where you can stroll along the pretty lakeside promenade or relax at a cafe with your cappucino! In the town, you can find a number of delicious Italian restaurants, fresh home made ice cream shops, small boutiques, and a couple of supermarkets. The public 'Lido di Menaggio' (public swimming pool) with lakeside sandy beach is just five minutes walk from the apartment.

Outdoor activities abound in this area and are very popular with holiday makers. An18 hole golf course, mountain biking, water skiing and lots of other sports are all here to be enjoyed by you and your family.

Making a Booking

To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.
