Ideally suited to couples, families, colleagues or shooting parties our cottage provides the perfect rural getaway in the peace and quiet of the countryside. On the borders of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland, the village of Stathern offers a peaceful village location with an abundance of superb country pursuits, historic market towns and great local food and drink on the doorstep. The cottage can be combined with our luxury B&B in Stoneacre, the main house, for larger groups.
Garden Cottage is our newly renovated luxury self-catering accommodation with off road parking for 2 cars, private garden and views over the main house and garden. The cottage has gas central heating, sealed unit double glazing and beamed ceilings throughout. There are smoke alarms and an intruder alarm for guest peace of mind.
The cottage sleeps 4 people in 5ft king size and 6ft super king size beds and both bedrooms can be arranged as twins if required. There is the option of a downstairs sofa bed for a 5th party member or 2 children sharing.
Outside there is a lawned garden and BBQ area with table and chairs. Views from the cottage garden are uninterrupted looking through the paddock towards the Vale of Belvoir hills.
Your holiday can be as active or relaxing as you like with a wide range of walking, cycling, fishing and golf locally as well as Watersports a plenty at the National Centre in Nottingham. In addition to Belvoir Castle nearby there are stately homes to enjoy at Belton, Grimsthorpe and Burghley. Twin Lakes theme park is a must for younger children and just down the road, 10 minutes away. We offer secure storage for bicycles.
For more sedate escapes enjoy a huge number of outstanding pubs, coffee shops and delis locally. Our village is very well served by a superb grocery store, butchers and post office. The award winning Red Lion pub serves outstanding food based on a local produce policy and the 3 local delis offer garden coffee shops and picnic hamper services.

Ground Floor
Open plan spacious living area decorated with Farrow and Ball paints and an eclectic mix of antique and contemporary furniture and accessories and beautiful handmade soft furnishings from our own interiors company. There is a fully equipped kitchen with dining area, heated coat and boot cupboard, downstairs bathroom and large sitting room with study area.
The kitchen overlooks the garden and is well equipped with integrated electric oven, hob and extractor with plenty of cupboard space. Everything you would expect in a modern family kitchen including microwave, large toaster, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge and freezer.
The lounge is beautifully presented with a comfy sofa and easy chairs. There is an LED flat screen TV, DVD player, DAB radio and docking station. The cottage has a study area with free wireless broadband access. The lounge has dual aspect windows overlooking the gardens. Guests have access to a lawned garden to the side of the cottage as shown in the external photographs.
The bathroom has a white suite comprising of a basin, WC and bath with a shower over. There is heated rail to keep towels fluffy and a storage cupboard.
First Floor
Up the cottage staircase to the bedrooms and cloakroom. The Rose bedroom has a 6 ft super king size bed which can be separated to a twin as required. There is a wardrobe and chest of drawers providing ample storage for a longer stay. The room is decorated using farrow and ball paints and a mixture of Romo and Cath Kidston fabrics to create a peaceful sanctuary with dual aspect windows overlooking the garden.
The Highland bedroom has a 5ft king size bed with a single bed available to convert to a twin to suit your stay. There is a hanging rail and chest of drawers and tartan, tweed and leather set the scene for a cosy night’s sleep.
Both beds have pocket sprung mattresses.

The property is gated and there is ample parking for 2 cars. The garden has a gravel terrace with table and chairs and a lawned area ideal for children to play in. There is a village playground with swings just 5 minutes walk.

The cottage has it's own allocated garden and there may be other guests from the B&B rooms enjoying the adjacent garden at the same time. We have 2 cats who are not allowed into the cottage! There are up to 3 additional luxury B&B bedrooms available at certain times, in the main house which means your party can be extended if required.
Conditions
Weekly rentals run from 4pm Friday to 11am the following week. Weekend breaks are 4pm Friday to 11am Monday and short breaks are 4pm Monday to 11am Friday.

Stathern is located on the fringes of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland and Lincolnshire. It is an area of outstanding beauty as well as being well served by historic market towns such as Oakham and Stamford and more vibrant cities of Nottingham and Leicester. Belvoir Castle is a famous local land mark and place to visit but is only one suggestion on a very long list of ideas to fill your days!
The Melton Mowbray / Vale of Belvoir area
Walking: From Garden Cottage there are miles and miles of beautiful walks throughout the Vale of Belvoir. Maps are provided in the cottage and B&B.
Cycling & Mountain Biking: Gentle and more challenging routes locally along the Belvoir trail. Rutland Water for cycle hire and a 26 mile family friendly circuit and Clumber Park has a long trail for all abilities including competition tracks.
Eating and Drinking: Many outstanding local pubs keen to support local producers with seasonal menus. Award winning Red Lion in the village for good ale and delicious food. Local farm shops with tea rooms and delis,can be reached on foot, pedal or by car. Here are some further suggestions:

Shopping: Plenty of boutique shopping for home and clothes in Oakham and Stamford or visit Nottingham or Leicester for department store heaven. The Birmingham Bullring is just an hour by train from Melton Mowbray.
Stately Homes: Belvoir Castle, Belton House, Grimsthorpe Castle and Burghley House are on the doorstep. Belvoir Castle and Burghley House stage concerts and events in their grounds all year round. For classical music and art exhibitions look to Grimsthorpe Castle and Tolthorpe Manor outside Shakespeare throughout the summer.
Golf: Wide range of pay and play 18 hole courses as well as local driving ranges at Belton Woods and just down the road in Melton Mowbray.
Spa and Beauty: Day spa visits to Belton Woods Hotel, Stapleford Park and Eden Hall Spa. The World famous Ragdale Hall is just 20 minutes away.
Museums and Visitors Centres: Leicester Space Centre, Sherwood Forest visitors centre and Robin Hood museum are all day attractions in Nottingham.
Theme Parks and Fun for Children: Ferry Farm and Whitepost Farm are local farm parks for younger children but for a more diverse range of animals and rides go to Twinlakes just 10 minutes away! This is a full day out and represents excellent value for money. A favourite for our friends and family.
