Caravan/Mobile Home | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Located in the beautiful rural North Norfolk countryside at the bottom of a half acre garden on a former M&GN railway property is our newly acquired fully refurbished, spacious and private caravan with probably the best view in Norfolk. The caravan lounge windows afford uninterrupted views across the stunning Glaven Valley to the coastline. The caravan sleeps up to six people. There is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a double sofa bed in the very large 12' x 12' lounge
The B1354 road runs alongside the property making the Old Gatehouse Gunthorpe the perfect, easily accessible base, from which to explore all that the North Norfolk Heritage Coast has to offer from wonderful bird watching, the excellent network of walking trails, pretty villages, bustling market towns, secluded sandy beaches, acres of unspoilt countryside not to mention the wonderful stately homes like Sandringham, Blickling,Holkham and Felbrigg. We live in the bungalow at the top of the garden and midway between is our award winning, traditional tea room serving homemade cakes and scones on beautiful vintage china. The tea room is open for Easter, and again at Whitsun, weekends only, through to August Bank Holiday Monday. Your comfort is our aim, and although we are not too far away in case you need anything, we shall leave you be to enjoy your holiday.

The East Anglia region
East Anglia is reknowned for its 'big skies'...... no more so than where our caravan is sited. From the windows can be viewed miles of countryside down and across the beautiful Glaven Valley to the coast.
We have miles of coastline that is as varied as can be.....from the vast expansive peaceful beaches at Brancaster to Victorian seaside towns of Hunstanton, Sheringham & Cromer to modern day, full on, funfair filled Great Yarmouth and beyond.
There is indeed something for everyone - birdwatching, the excellent network of walking trails, pretty villages, bustling market towns, acres of unspoilt countryside not to mention the wonderful stately homes like Sandringham, Blickling, Holkham and Felbrigg. There art galleries galore, nature reserves, museums, churches, shopping and one particular must is a visit to the historic Cathedral City of Norwich.
If you fancy a bit of nightlife without a long trek into the city of Norwich we own Bouncers Bar Nightclub in nearby Cromer to which we could offer you transport.
For railway enthusiasts the name of Melton Constable is synonymous with the former M&GN railway which sprawled across North Norfolk in all directions linking the midlands with the coastline.
Melton was built specifically for the railway as housing for the many staff employed at the station. William Marriott was chief engineer at that time and much has been written about this very much loved railway company.
The property on which our caravan stands was a former crossing keepers cottage on the M&GN line and we still have the original signal box standing by the front gate.

"Relaxing Country Retreat"
I desperately needed to recharge my batteries after a very stressful few months and I couldn't have found a better place! There was a lovely warm welcome from Heather and Keith along with some mu… More

We found the caravan to be well located for our needs. Heather had gone to the trouble of stocking the fridge with eggs, milk, butter. It was very clean and we were made to feel very welcome. It do… More

"Do not go here - terrible and very noisy"
NOISY NOISY NOISY - DO NOT GO HERE. As a family of 5 including two children of age 2 and 3 we booked the static caravan at Gunthorpe for 2 weeks from the 12th July 2014.The gallery of photo's and… More
I am sorry this guest was unhappy with his holiday. I would like to point out that he had originally booked for 2 adults and 2 children. Then the day before his arrival he suddenly announced he was bringing along an extra person. I had given him a generous 16% discount for a 2 week booking as he intimated in his first email that he was on a tight budget. Normally I would have required a higher fee for the extra person to cover for laundry costs but bearing in mind his 'tight budget' I let it go. Returning a whole week's fee including the discount and the extra person staying I felt was right and fair. Nowhere on my website do I state that the area is quiet and peaceful. The maps show our exact location. The very fact that this guest was unhappy with his holiday in Norfolk last year (told to me on his arrival) should have prompted him to ask questions about this year's choice of location. We are in the heart of the North Norfolk farming community. The crops in the fields surrounding us do not appear by magic. I note with interest that he neglects to mention the evening time - when it is very quiet - and did not prevent him from sitting on the balcony to enjoy a cigarette. My photographs do not lie.......they were taken by a professional Trip Advisor photographer.

"Your own private Caravan with glorious views and excellent hosts"
The caravan sits at the edge of a field and the owners about 200 yards away. No one else for miles to bother you. Fantastic views from the balcony and the sitting area. The sunset is the best. We were… More

"Convenient, comfortable, clean, cosy and welcoming!"
We arrived and were greeted by Heather who showed us where everything was also left us some numbers in case we needed anything....very helpful. The property has good privacy, beautiful uninterrupted views across fields (bliss)! It's only 10-15mins from Holt/Weybourne/Sheringham and 25-30mins from Cromer so has good accessibility. We ate in Holt in the evenings and cooked breakfast in the caravan which was done with ease. There is a Thai called The Crawfish inn which we heard is good and that's on the A148 just past Melton constable as well as a fish restaurant 5mins in the car.
Heather and her husband are most helpful and will give you any details of the area that you need. We were very lucky in that we had the mini heat wave whilst there and spent most of our time on Sheringham beach which was wonderful!
The caravan is comfortable and perfect for a self catering holiday particularly of you have children!
