"Luxury cottage in the Scottish Borders"

When we arrived at the cottage we were very impressed with the furnishings and equipment provided. A hamper of local food was a very welcome extra touch to get our stay off to a good start. We were very impressed with the way the cottage has been renovated and is a very comfortable place for a vacation. It is in an excellent position for exploring the Scottish Borders and the nearest town of Melrose is about a 20mins walk away with a good selection of shops and restaurants. We would have no hesitation in returning here at a future date.

"First class holiday accommodation in a first class location"

A superb, well equipped, beautiful and comfortable property, immaculately clean, with the visitors' every need taken care of (it even has it's own garage!). The property is ideally situated, is a 5 minute drive from the centre of Melrose, a thriving little town, which has a variety of excellent pubs, restaurants and individual shops and is also ideally situated for visiting the many places of interest nearby and for great walks along the River Tweed. The owners are very friendly and could not be more helpful.

"Immaculately presented, romantic cottage providing excellent value for money."

We booked a 3-night break at The Old Dairy near Melrose after New Year. The cottage is situated a few minutes' drive out of the town centre in a lovely tucked-away street. From the moment we arrived, we were very impressed with the quality of the accomodation and the little touches here and there that the owners laid on for us. The cottage is spacious yet retains a cosy feel. The integral garage is a real bonus, meaning you can load/unload your car in the dry! The kitchen and bathrooms were absolutely immaculate. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need for a cottage break with plenty of logs to feed the lovely woodburner. Melrose is a lovely place with a delightful Abbey. Paul and Christine were extremely helpful from the outset. We have booked again to stay in December.

"A beautiful cottage in an ideal location, just perfect for a relaxing carefree break."

Our holiday began as soon as we walked in the door and were greeted by a spotlessly clean cottage and a very thoughtful welcome hamper. The Old Dairy is one of the best maintained and cleanest holiday cottages we have ever stayed in and we have been in many! Although we went as a couple, the Old Dairy would easily accomodate two couples very comfortably.
Darnick is a very quiet location and there are plenty of walks starting just outside the cottage for all levels of ability. We spent many a happy hour watching salmon leaping in the Tweed as we walked along the river banks into Melrose.
Melrose is an easy walk of just over a mile and a visit there is great if you want to just potter about. A visit to Melrose Abbey is a must.
For those of you who like historic houses this location is just perfect for visiting Floors Castle in Kelso, Traquair, and Abbotsford House.
The only improvement I would make to the cottage would be to make a wifi/internet connection available as I do often have to bring some work with me on holiday.
Otherwise The Old Dairy is absolutely perfect!
