The Scottish Borders region

The Scottish Borders is known as The Gateway To Scotland for good reason. You can stand with one foot in Scotland and one foot in England at the Border at Carter Bar and admire the 360 degree views and that is just the start of your visit to the Borders. The Borders has spectacular scenery, fishing on one of Scotlands premier rivers the sparkling River Tweed, a vast choice of golf courses, its a cyclist and walkers paradise, and in a land known for its equestrian history a trip on horseback is ideal for exploring the region at your own pace. The history of the Borders from King Arthur and Merlin to Robert the Bruce, William Wallace, Mary Queen of Scots, and the ferocious Border Reivers is long and sometimes bloody but never dull! So much to explore in such beautiful surroundings, what are you waiting for.

Melrose

The beautiful and hisoric town of Melrose has much to offer visitors. The beautiful Abbey located in the town centre where the heart of Robert the Bruce is buried is lovely by day or by night when it is lighten up. The beautiful ornamental gardens at Harmony House are well worth a look, and this also the site of the Borders Book Festival in June, which attracts many literary big names. The Greenyards is of course also the home of the very first rugby sevens in 1883 and the annual event in April draws international teams and crowds. But apart from the history, sporting and literary events, Melrose also abounds with restaurants, cafes, delicatessens and an eclectic mix of shops, from antiques, gifts and clothes, it is a delight to explore.
