About this location
The Scottish Borders region
The Scottish Borders is the land of ballads and legends, of the great writer, Sir Walter Scott and the poet James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd, a varied landscape both beautiful and wild, on the margins of Scotland and England from where generations of 'rievers' raided cattle from rivals in a lawless country known as the 'debatable lands' It is bounded by the rolling Cheviot Hills to the south, the Lammemuir and Moorfoot hIlls to the north, the Tweeddale hills to the West and, to the east, by the sea along the coast of Berwickshire. Edinburgh, the vibrant capital city is just beyond the region, to the north and can be reached from Melrose in less than an hour.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful and positive comments. I would just like to make it clear, however, that the principal accommodation, i.e. living room, kitchen, bedroom and shower room, is all on the ground floor and eminently suitable for the elderly or people with access difficulties. It is only the additional mezzanine gallery area that is accessed by the staircase.
