The South/Borders region

The Scottish Borders is justly a location for all seasons!

With the fantasic Winter's lovely frosty mornings and the spectacular landscape around you, down by the River Tweed with the mist rising off the water, the silence can feel as though one is on a different planet. The area and atmosphere changes so much, it just revitalizes and rejuvenates you. The Spring lambs are in all the fields and the new growth surrounds us. In the Summer one can just relax to a countryfied way of life. Slowly the Autumnal colours appear and are a beauty to behold. Driving around the Borders offers you fantastic views over every rise.

Melrose area

Melrose has an excellent 9-hole golf course on the shoulder of the Eildon Hills, with wonderful views and is one of 21 excellent courses in the area.

There are tennis courts in the park at Melrose.

This is the heart of rugby country, with the Greenyards at Melrose being the home of the rugby Sevens game.

For less active days, there is a wealth of stately homes, ruined abbeys, historic castles and peel towers to visit - the nearest is probably Sir Walter Scott's home of Abbotsford, just four miles distant - as well as some lovely gardens nearby like Monteviot and Mertoun.
