The Island of Malta region
Malta is a group of islands in the heart of the Mediterranean to the south of Sicily (Italy). The three main islands are Malta, Gozo and Comino, which attract a large number of visitors each year, who often return to spend their holidays in Malta, due to its fantastic all year round weather, numerous tourists visit the island of Malta for its rich history and culture but, most of all for its sunny and warm weather and hospitable people.
Mellieha / Ghadira Bay area
The property is situated on the seafront of Ghadira, Mellieha Bay. Mellieha is the northern most village, which spreads over Mellieha ridge, settlements have existed here since the prehistoric period. The town is a combination of traditional old buildings, modern shops, restaurants, cafes and quaint public bars.
The heart of the village is dominated by the Parish Church, which stands prominent on the ridge, being best viewed from the square or Mellieha Bay more locally known as Ghadira the largest and most shallow sandy beach on the island. In fact the north side of Malta is home to almost all the best beaches and beautiful bays you will find, such as Paradise Bay, Armier Bay, Mistra Bay, Mgiebah Bay, Golden Sands and Selmun. All these beaches are within easy reach of this beautiful village, which is the last village before crossing to the sister islands of Gozo and Comino, making it an ideal location for day trips to the Blue Lagoon at Comino a place were you will find the most crystal blue Mediterranean Sea on the islands and a 5 minute drive to Cirkewwa where one will find a regular ferry service, normally every 45 minutes to Gozo.
Either go as a foot passenger or take a car. Mellieha offers the idyllic location to holiday, together with the hospitality of the English speaking locals, fine Mediterranean wine and cuisine, just about sum up the perfect recipe.
