Our apartment is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy some breathtaking views and the beautiful sandy beach, located two minutes walk away. Our two bedroom apartment offers guests all the comfort needed to make their holiday a perfect one!.It is superbly located a makes an ideal family holiday home!!The apartment is just a couple of minutes away from the local bus stop, making it easily accessible for both travel to/from the airport as well as villages and places throughout the island.

The whole apartment is suffused with natural light from large, west-facing windows and doors. The renovated and redesigned apartment consists of an open plan living room with sofabed, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a dining area, a double bedroom, two singles bedroom and a bathroom with shower . Carefully selected furnishings create a space that is aesthetically pleasing, comfortable and practical.

Supplied with automatic washing machine and is fully airconditioned, price also includes towels and bed linen.

The Island of Malta region

HAPPY HOLIDAY !

Megaliths, medieval dungeons and Calypso's Cave – The Maltese Islands are positively mythic. The narrow meandering streets of their towns and villages are crowded with Renaissance cathedrals and Baroque palaces. As the countryside is dotted with the oldest known human structures in the world, the Islands have rightly been described as an open-air museum.

The Maltese archipelago lies virtually at the centre of the Mediterranean, with Malta 93km south of Sicily and 288km north of Africa. The archipelago consists of three islands: Malta, Gozo and Comino with a total population of 400,000 inhabitants over an area of 316sq km and a coastline of 196.8km (not including 56.01 km for the island of Gozo).

Malta is the largest island and the cultural, commercial and administrative centre. Gozo is the second largest island and is more rural, characterised by fishing, tourism, crafts and agriculture while Comino is largely uninhabited.

With superbly sunny weather, expansive beaches, a thriving nightlife and 7,000 years of intriguing history, there is a great deal to see and do. With a little help from any guidebook, captivating places of interest are immediately identified – the world famous Hypogeum selected as a place of World Heritage by UNESCO, prehistoric temples and grand palaces are but a few.

The long relationship between the Islanders and the various nationalities that occupied Malta over the centuries has created a marriage of styles and traditions, giving the Islands a fascinating eclectic culture.

True to the melting pot of cultural influences, the national languages are English and Maltese.


Mellieha / Ghadira Bay area

The beach at Mellieha Bay – Il Ghadira, named for the natural sandbank lying just 100m off the shore - is one of the most popular on Malta. The largest sandy beach on the island, Mellieha offers shallow waters and a vast expanse of smooth golden sands, and the presence of life-guards make it an ideal spot for families with children. Watersports are available on Mellieha Beach, including water-skiing and parasailing, with fun activities such as banana boat rides and pedalos on offer. A good choice of beach bars and restaurants line the beach and some large hotels sit back from the seafront.

Beaches
The gorgeous Mellieha Bay beach is the longest beach in the area with lovely clean, shallow water and golden sands. Swimmers love it and it is safe for the kids. It does get a bit crowded at weekends. This beach is so nice that the locals use it too. Nearby Golden Bay is delightful too. Mellieha beach features loads of friendly little kiosks that sell cool, fresh local and exotic fruit salads, ice cold drinks and ice creams, and there are places to hire sunbeds and beach umbrellas.

Explore the Town
The town centre of Mellieha is packed with interesting and useful shops, restaurants selling delicious local and international food and friendly cafes with chilled outdoor seating. The town’s side streets are pretty, typically Maltan, giving an insight into the lives of the people who live here all year round. Folk sit outside their houses on warm evenings chatting, a good way to meet the locals.

Popeye Village
The kids will love this feature of Malta! Popeye Village was originally built as a film set but now it’s a magical place for children, with a museum as well as live puppet shows and a funfair.

The Feast of Our Lady of Victories
If you visit between 30th August and 8th September you can join in with the big celebrations for the Feast of our Lady of Victories. One long party covering the whole week, filled with exciting displays of fireworks, live music and folk dancing, local arts and crafts and a spectacular procession.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieha
Fancy some history? Our lady of Mellieha church faces onto a really pretty ancient square with a sparkling fountain and trees. This is a little oasis away from the holiday turmoil. Or visit the Parish Church complex complete with wonderful medieval cathedrals clinging to the slopes & the unmissable war shelters!!

Ancient Art
There’s an ancient painting in Mellieha Sanctuary Cave, of the Madonna and Child. Allegedly, painted in 60AD by St Luke whilst he was shipwrecked here, but more likely a medieval piece of art. All the same it is a pretty thing and well worth the visit if you’re an art buff.

Malta is easily accessible using one of many airlines. Ryanair fly every day from London Luton, Easyjet now fly from Manchester and Gatwick and Air Malta fly from Heathrow and Stanstead. These are just a sample of the services that fly to Malta. From Luqa airport in Malta the apartment is only 25 minutes away by car and if necessary I can arrange a local taxi firm to collect clients at the airport and take them to the apartment at a very reasonable cost.

Driving Directions from Airport:
Follow signs to Gozo, drive along the Salina Coast Road, keep driving straight past Qawra and Bugibba area.At the intersection and traffic lights you will see signs to Mellieha.
If you opt for car hire, we recommend a local firm, which offers very good rates to our clients.

Among the amenities you will find a 4 burner stovetop, oven and refrigerator/freezer, as well as an electric hot water kettle,coffee machine and all the tools you need to prepare everything from simple breakfasts to dinners (there are wonderful food markets in the nearby villages). The dining table adjacent to the open kitchen accommodates up to six guests. The living area features a full size sofa bed which accommodates up to five adults. Cable TV with international channel selections is included in price however internet access is provided on request at an additional charge. You will also find a well-stocked selection of books and maps about Malta., plus a number of board games for family fun. Baby equipment can also be provided on request at no extra costs.

The bright and airy bedrooms have sound, brand new mattresses ensuring you get a good night’s sleep during your stay, as well as comfy pillows and excellent closet space. Quality linens and towels are provided for your comfort. The bathroom with direct access from the living room features a full size shower. A hairdryer, iron, and ironing board are available for your convenience. A portable barbecue is also available for our guests to barbecue on the beach and do like the locals do. Adjustable heating/cooling and portable high-speed fans for the summer months let you create your own comfortable climate throughout the whole apartment. Double-glazed windows and doors provide excellent noise insulation.
The veranda is a very pleasant place to sit a while especially during the winter months to enjoy some winter sunshine, it overlooks the nearby country side and you can also feast your eyes on the Mediterranean Sea.

A lovely relaxing week at Mariella's apartment in Melleiha. Very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you'll need, just like home and a welcome pack to start you off! With only a short walk down to the sandy beach, it is in a very good position. We found the flat very nicely decorated and conveniently supplied with utensils. It was cool to live in and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony in the morning with our first cup of tea of the day while deciding what to do and again in the evening with a glass of wine. The view is all the way across to Popeye Village and as the week passed we enjoyed identifying the various spots we had visited.

The mini market is very close to the flat - 2 minutes walk and we could buy our breakfast bread every morning. Also, it is possibly to walk to along the shore line to the beach if you do not want to walk past the shops.
We had a very pleasant week in the apartment.
