The apartment is a typical Maltese summer residence with the advantage of a sun terrace and some sea views.

Location on the 4th floor served with an escalator, it is situated opposite Mellieha valley (Ghadira Bay) and enjoys valley views at the front and some sea views at the back where the bedrooms are located.

A large sunny balcony is situated in front of the kitchen & living area with valley views opposite making it ideal for eating outdoors.

For your convenience the apartment is equipped with a hair dryer and ironing board and has its own washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and has air-conditioned bedrooms.

There are 3 large bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

Price includes internet wifi.

The location is central with the main sandy beach just 400metres away and plenty of cafes, min markets, restaurants and excursion outlets on the way.

Bus stops are conveniently located to the right and left of the apartment some 50metres distant and for those who opt to hire a car, there is free street parking all around the apartment block.

It is possible for me to arrange electric bike hire for you. Bikes enable you to access spectacular sites which often cannot be accessed on four wheels. Guided tours can also be arranged ! Please ask for rates and terms and do contact me well in advance.

Our winters are mild and most days are sunny which makes for great winter breaks.

In winter the area is a quiet one. Its ideal for tranquil pursuits such as a picnic on the beach, or painting the ever changing scenery or walking to the Bird Sanctuary located on the main road about 800metres from the apartment. Our children still love the beach in winter even now they're in their teens; they fly kites or kick a ball about. There's nothing quite so magical as a bit of warm sand underfoot in winter....

And the coastal walks are a great pleasure. Take a leisurely walk all the way to the Riviera hotel on a Sunday, try the buffet lunch there ( the views are amazing, the staff is friendly and we like the entertainment). Its a 2km walk so the walk back aids the digestion :)

Rural Mellieha village is 800metres distant with a Catholic church and a stunning Sanctuary Cave Chapel. Constructed late in the 16th century, the Sanctuary is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and includes a beautiful Byzantine style fresco. If you see just one historical building during your stay, this should be it !

If you're feeling fit you could tackle the uphill climb to the village by only takes 20minutes but it certainly keeps you trim! Once there a quick visit to the Sanctuary then its off to check out the shops or to the cafe behind the Church for tea or a quick snack.

In summer Ghadira Bay is a free beach with lots of beach services.

Beach cafe, Bowling alley opposite the beach, Beach sport hire shop for paragliding & banana boat rides, hire of sun beds &umbrellas.

Padi certified snorkelling school 100metres.

My renters recommend Ta'Peters restaurant up in Mellieha for good food at reasonable prices.

For a breathtaking view, try the cafe behind the Church and for young children the cafe adjoins a public playground.

Popeye Village is an unforgettable adventure outing for younger children, situated some 1km from the apartment and easily reached by walk or public bus.

Bus service to Valletta is available 7am-10pm with bus stops just 100metres from the apartment.

Free street parking in front of the apartment.

English is a main language and the natives are friendly :)

Italian is also widely spoken and local TV includes all Italian stations.

The beach at Mellieha Bay

Il-Ghadira, named for the natural sandbank lying just 100m off the shore, is one of the most popular on Malta.

The largest sandy beach on the island, it offers shallow waters and an expanse of smooth golden sands, making it an ideal spot for families with children. It does get a bit crowded at weekends. This beach is so nice that the locals use it too.

Ghadira Bay is a free beach with lots of beach services. Water sports are available on the beach including water-skiing and para-sailing, with fun activities such as banana boat rides and pedaloes on offer. Beach cafe, beach kiosks selling fresh fruit and ice creams, hire of sun beds &umbrellas.

Bowling alley opposite the beach. Padi certified snorkelling school 100metres.

The town centre of Mellieha is packed with interesting and useful shops, restaurants selling delicious local and international food and friendly cafes with chilled outdoor seating. The town's side streets are pretty, typically Maltese, giving an insight into the lives of the people who live here all year round. Folk sit outside their houses on warm evenings chatting, a good way to meet the locals.

Popeye Village

The kids will love this feature of Malta! Popeye Village was originally built as a film set but now it's a magical place for children, with a museum as well as live puppet shows and a funfair.

Mellieha Fiesta

If you visit between 30th August and 8th September you can join in with the big celebrations for the Feast of our Lady of Victories. One long party covering the whole week, filled with exciting displays of fireworks, live music and folk dancing, local arts and crafts and a spectacular procession.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Mellieha

Fancy some history? Our lady of Mellieha church faces onto a really pretty ancient square with a sparkling fountain and trees. This is a little oasis away from the holiday turmoil. Or visit the Parish Church complex complete with wonderful medieval cathedrals clinging to the slopes & the unmissable war shelters!!

Local Foods

Pastizzi are pasties with a filling of mushy peas or local goats cheese. Outlets are found in every village, often along the main road of the village.

Imqaret are fried date cakes, very popular on special occasions. A seller of long standing can be found near the bus terminus, just before the main entrance to Valletta.

The vast majority of fruit and vegetables on offer in our shops are local produce. Try our figs, melons, watermelons and prickly pears.

Strawberries are also grown on a large scale in Malta and give rise to several April fruit festivals in the village of Mgarr, 9km from Mellieha.

Our grandparents also considered snails to be a part of their diet, but it is a delicacy that has not retained many supporters. Snails, cooked and seasoned, can generally be found in food fairs during the summer months but are difficult to find on restaurant menus.

Malta also produces its own range of fine wines. Price is a good indication of taste. The biggest producers are Marsovin Winery , Meridiana Wines and Delicata Wines. Two of the best wines are Isis, a white Chardonnay and Antonin Noir, a fruity well bodied red.

For a summer platter of hams and cheeses, try our locally produced goat's cheeslets which come in a choice of plain, peppered and seasoned. Or add some local olive oil to your summer salad ...... famous chef Jamie Oliver came to Gozo to have a sample of our olive oil just last year ( :) ..... why don't you ?

The Island of Malta region

Malta is generally considered to be one of the safest holiday destinations in the world.

Balmy summers and mild winters make for a happy holiday any month of the year :)

Beaches are free and tailored to the needs of the holidaymaker and the island is packed with holiday activities and head turning architecture.

Mellieha is in the North of the island and a car is to be recommended during the summer months when the islands population swells to twice its normal size from its tourist visitors.

18km distant from Mellieha is the modern town of Paceville with its dearth of bars, discotheques and restaurants. Its an area enjoyed by locals and tourists alike including a bowling alley, shopping centres, cinema complex. As one might expect, it does get extremely crowded of a weekend.

The cities of Valletta and Mdina ooze with the atmosphere of the deadly skirmishes that took place with every new invader, bloody battles built into the stones of the architecture.

Valletta a city built by gentlemen for gentlemen" () is 24 km from Mellieha. The Capital is a peninsula so sea views are never far away. Visit a museum then look for the nearest public garden and enjoy a comfortable snack & sea view. Check the local theatre for on going activities or pop along to the Valletta waterfront which has on going quayside entertainment throughout the summer months.

14km distant from Mellieha, Mdina is a medieval city, fortified by huge ramparts built to last by the Romans at the height of their empire. Take a tour of Palazzo Falzon, then find your way to the ramparts and drink in the view of the island's chequered fields and villages laid out below you. Mdina has its fair share of cafes and restaurants but the adjoining village of Rabat boasts an enviable number of bars. At Rabat you will also find the catacombs commemorating St Paul's stay on the island around 60AD.

And can you honestly ignore Gozo? The sparkling seas of the Blue Lagoon, prehistoric buildings at Ggantija dating from the dawn of time , haunting tales of the deeds of Francis Xavier Mercieca exposed in the Basilica ......... it all makes for one fantastic visit to be discussed over a local fish dinner in one of the may beach side restaurants along the Gozitan coast.

Other popular Bays in the North of Malta :

MISTRA BAY - 2KM away (no bus service) Quiet and still unknown to tourists, Mistra has a pebbly beach, is great for swimming and fishing and has a single restaurant (seafront and good food).

PARADISE BAY -1KM (no bus service) small but very scenic, great sandy beach.

ARMIER BAY - 2KM well taken care of by RAY's LIDO which does an unusual line in JET SKI SAFARIS :) 5 mins away accessible by bus.

GOLDEN BAY - 6KM accessible by direct bus service. huge lovely sandy bay but be careful of the currents! The cafe turns into a very romantic restaurant by night!

And of course, the ISLANDS OF GOZO and COMMINO can be quickly reached by boat or ferry 120m-1/2km away

POPEYE VILLAGE is a must for children :) 700m distant from the apartment, there is a direct bus service in summer from the sandy beach of Ghadira to the village. A swimming pool, quad rides, theme park and year round activities make this complex a firm favourite.

MEDITERRANEO WATER PARK 7km makes for a great day out for all the family. Directly accessible by bus, the water park is next door to a Dolphinarium with shows held daily. For brave souls, it is also possible to arrange to SWIM WITH THE DOLPHINS :)

In winter it is the ideal place for a walking holiday, absorbing the fresh sea air and tranquil surroundings, enjoying the spas available in the vicinity and the excellent cuisine of the many fine restaurants located in Mellieha Village.

Staying with us you will get a spacious, comfortable apartment, well equipped with views from most rooms - all you need to do is come and make yourself comfortable :)

"Wonderful hospitality and great location"

Me, my wife and two young children stayed at the apartment over the Easter holidays.
The apartment was spacious, open and had all the facilities we needed to make the most of a week away from home. Sheila was a gracious and helpful host, even sending daily emails with suggestions of what to do nearby! The apartment is 5 minutes walk from the lovely Mellieha beach and only a few minutes drive from the port that has access to Gozo and Camino. Local grocery store 'Roberta's' had all the supplies we needed with the added bonus of chicks that the kids could pick up and cuddle. We will definitely be contacting Sheila again if we head back to the north coast of Malta!

"Very nice flat, excellent service"

This appartment is only a short walk away from the Mellieha beach. A foodstore is found a stairway down and around the corner.
We had a nice holiday in the appartment 11 days in early october. We found everything we needed to be there.
The appartment has a large livingroom with a fully equipped kitchenet. The bedrooms, all airconditioned, are in the quiet part of the building. The owners were very nice, and helpful during our whole stay.

Thank you for your courtesy. Its great to know the accommodation was to your liking.
