Gozo is Malta's sister island, covering an area of 67 sq km with a population of just 30,000.The island of Gozo can be reached either by Seaplane from Valletta Harbour or by ferry from Cirkewwa ferry terminal. Cirkewwa terminal is located just 10 minutes away (by car or public transport) from Mellieha village. The shuttle ferry service is operated by Gozo-Channel and the schedule varies by season, however ferries typically run every hour and the voyage takes under 30 minutes.

The village of Mellieha is one of Malta's most pristine regions, known for its wonderful sandy beaches and world-class hotels and restaurants. It has become one of the country's most important historical areas and in 2009, Mellieha was officially recognized as one of Europe's top off-the-beaten-track destinations and awarded the European Destination of Excellence (EDEN) award. More info and videos available here: http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/sectors/tourism/eden/themes-destinations/countries/malta/mellieha-manikata/index_en.htm
Situated at the Northest point on the island, Mellieha exhibits breathtaking views of Gozo and Comino whilst picturesque sunsets can be enjoyed every summer evening from several hilltops and cliffs surrounding the village. Mellieha is also home to Malta's largest beach - Mellieha Bay.
The village festa is celebrated on the 8th of September, and this involves a whole week of celebrations including band marches and a series of ground and aerial firework displays.
*Places of interest and things to do around Mellieha*

We have been to Malta several times over the years always staying in the north of this lovely Island... The Santa Maria estate in Mellieha boasts some of the best Villas in Malta and the Villa High Noon is a good example of this, It is a large villa that can cater for large or small goups and you can hire all or part of the villa depending on the size of your party, We stayed at the villa in September and and found the villa roomy and very clean, and the pool area is safe especially with young children as there is a safety fence and gate, there was plenty of patio furniture to relax on around the pool. The owners the Fenech Family are lovely people, nothing was to much trouble for them and there customer service is excellent. The villa is close to all the amenities Mellieha has to offer and although the beach is a fair walking distance away (approx 20/25 min walk and up hill coming back) the local bus out on the main road will take you down to the beach, The bus service is excellent and the buses go to most areas on the island including the capitol Valleta. The village its self is situated on a hill and has an abundance of Resturants, Bars and 3 hotels that welcome you. There are also 2 local supermarkets and a bakers within walking distance. So based on previous experiences we have rebooked the villa and will be staying again in August 2013.

Charlie & Tessie (owners) were very very friendly and they go out of their way to help you from the day you arrive till the day you leave their villa. The villa was spotlessly clean and really big and spacious. All bedrooms are nicely decorated and the kitchen was newly fitted with a washing machine which was quite handy. The pool was of a very good size with a lovely swing and sunbathing area. We stayed in the upper villa which has a lovely big terrace and a b.b.q area with a big table were we stayed most nights. What I really enjoyed about this villa is the fact that it is in a very quite area but at the same time with close proximities to the town centre as well as the butcher, baker and groceries. (10 minutes walk).

"Wonderful place, wonderful people."
Having visited Malta before, we decided to up the ante a bit and book a luxury property near to all amenities. Villa High Noon is just that - centrally located and private too - with all the home comforts anyone could want. The renowned friendliness of the Maltese people is personified in the owners, Charlie and his family - who could not do enough to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. If you're looking for a charming holiday rental, where the hosts make you feel like a member of their family, then I advise you to consider Villa High Noon. Marvellous!
