The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region
Deux Sevres historically has a micro-climate being the second sunniest of France after the south coast. It has strong Roman links with many churches and prehistory tumulus.
There is the valley of the Singes nearby, a monkey sanctuary and we are ideally placed for visiting the many markets and towns in the area.
Melle / Lezay area
Melle is a lovely town with many restaurants and attractions and is the cultural town in the area with many exhibitions and galleries.
Lezay, being the nearest town, has all the amenities you need with a supermarket, Petrol station, Boulangerie and cash machine as well as restaurants and bars etc.

Further details indoors: Newly decorated for 2009 Le Chenille is a comfortable and homely base for your holiday in Poitou-Charente. The double bedroom has patio doors opening onto a small terrace with views to the woods and river. It is a lovely morning sun-trap.
The second bedroom has a double bed and a set of bunk-beds whilst in the lounge is a sofa-bed. The shower room has been newly fitted with a 5 jet hydro-massage shower and sink unit.
The cooker, dishwasher and fridge with freezer compartment are also new for 2009.
Further details outdoors: The grounds of Le Petit Moulin, nearly 3 acres in total, are mainly laid to lawn, with a wooded area, a large grassed / paddock area suitable for playing games. The swimming pool is located on a lawned area with lots of sunbeds and hammocks to whilst away some time with a book and a glass of wine.
There is a small pond which is stocked with Roach, Perch and trout. Fishing is allowed but it is to easy for the serious fisherman! We have free range chickens with eggs when available for our guests. The Orchard has apples, pears, cherries and figs all free to pick when in season.
The lanes in the area are quiet and normally the fields are full of sunflowers, making it ideal for cycling, we have several cycles adult and children's for you to borrow.
