This charming 19th century traditional country house was built in 1895 by a Parisian merchant as a summerhouse. The house is decorated in traditional French style with exposed beams and chestnut floors, with many original features being preserved. The property has a secure walled with views over the open countryside. Located on the outskirts of the peaceful hamlet of Charzay, 3 miles from the historic market town of Melle and 45 miles from the Atlantic Coast. The house comfortably sleeps 8 adults with a cot provided. There will be a discount of 20% given for any second week booked at this property.

Large open plan kitchen/ dining room, with access to rear garden, with cooker, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and hi-fi unit. The large farmhouse table seats 8. There is also a high chair. Washing machine is situated in shower room.
The lounge has comfy sofas and chairs. There is TV with satellite for English channels and DVD.

Bedroom 1 (Ground Floor) Double four-poster bed. Bedroom 2 Twin beds and cot. Bedroom 3 Double bed.
Bedroom 4 Twin beds. All bedrooms are equipped with storage facilities and fans.
An additional single bed is available for an extra guest at an additional cost of £50 during Low season and £70 in High Season.

The large secluded garden is totally private and walled/fenced on all sides making it very child-friendly. There is patio furniture, sun-loungers, BBQ and some bicycles available.
The Poitou-Charentes/Vendee region
Melle. (5 mins). Here you will find the 'triad' of Romanesque churches,and the silver mines of the Frankish kings date from the 9th century, or wander along the 'discovery trails' through the arboretum that encircles the town.
Chef Boutonne (20 mins). Where there is the chateau at Javarzay which is one of the most important Renaissance chateaux in Poitou, with park and fishing lake. Daily fishing permits are available.Chef-Boutonne also has a 12th century church and is the source of the river Boutonne. The main square with its pavement cafes, hosts the vibrant market each Saturday morning.
For lovers of culture and music the region has a wealth of annual music and dance festivals, for example, classical music festivals at Melle (May) and Saintes (July), festivals of jazz at Châtellerault/Poitiers (May) or Blues at Cognac ((July); an international film festival at La Rochelle (July) or a festival of world dance and music at Confolens (August).
The historic town of La Rochelle and the Atlantic coast is about 50 miles away with several additional beaches to the south of La Rochelle, all with their own attractions and ample seafood restaurants. There are many leaflets giving information about the local attractions at the property.
Melle (5 Mins) Where there are several restaurants and pavement cafes. Large supermarkets, bakers, pharmacies doctors and banks are also found here. A local market is held every Friday morning in the centre of the town.
Brioux-Sur-Boutonne, A smaller town than Melle but with all the essentials, supermarket, pharmacy, bank, restaurants and a local market held each Thursday morning.
