The Puglia/Molise region

San Foca is a tourist destination in the Adriatic coast of Salento, at 15 km north of Otranto and interposed between Roca and Torre Specchia. The tourist town by the sea, offers a summer holiday full of comfort for the satisfaction of conflicting requirements, being provided with different scenarios, which are appreciated by various types of residents. Beach lovers, find in San Foca very long and wonderful sandy stretches. Cliff lovers and fishermen, have access to some islets and rocky banks, especially one which can be reached both swimming and by raft / boat. In the inlet to the north there are some rocks. It has a little port, small in size and just rebuilt, for docking and storaging of private boats. The promenade of San Foca, large, beautiful and in excellent state of repair, allows long walks in the moonlight. In San Foca, there are some typical restaurants, most of which are addressed in the cuisine of seafood, but one, Il Vagabondo, is specialized in cuisine based on our local meat. Also possible to taste dishes such as sea urchins and shellfish, into two kiosks, near the coast (in one, 'Captain Morgan', you will receive a discount of 10% and a treat with our agreement card WSalento). Many premises, different types, distributed in the town, or adjacent to it, clubs like the "Mediterraneo" (techno-house music), the "Koiba" (commercial music), the "Mamanera" (which constantly organizes Reggae music evenings ), pubs and disco-pub. The sea is made ??clear by the currents and winds, and it is a resort of great attraction. So San Foca is a town that embraces an important stretch of coastline, divided by two beaches (not the only but the most important), on either side the port: Brigantini beach and degli Aranci beach ('Marangi' in Salento dialect) and the clear sea, reflecting the rays of the sun, especially at dawn.

AMENITIES (presence of tourist attractions, art) of: San Foca

Sandy beaches (among which we mention 'Brigantini ' and 'Degli Aranci' or 'Marangi' in local dialect), rocky stretches (great for diving); little island; restaurants with raw and cooked seafood specialties (eg restaurant "Frutti di mare" which has discount agreement with us); restaurant serving local meat(Il Vagabondo); equipped beaches; discos and disco-pubs in the immediate vicinity; port; beautiful, long, wide promenade, newly renovated .

HISTORY AND BACKGROUND of San Foca

San Foca was founded as a fishermen village, which, mooring boats in themain inlet , began to build small temporary shelters. Gradually these accommodations became real homes, up to the known and appreciated modern tourist destination . The Tower of San Foca, which is part of the defensive system of towers against enemy raids, was probably built in 1569. The tower has a square base and is developed long a truncated pyramid body. Built with regular blocks of tufa, now houses the Harbour Office. Previously communicated toward north with Ruggeri Specchia Tower and toward south with Roca Vecchia Towe
