Townhouse / 4 bedrooms / sleeps 7
This beautiful, historic townhouse is ideal for groups or families with older children, but also makes a cosy retreat for couples, to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. It is situated in a traditional area of malta and is away from the touristy, expensive areas which give a tacky view of malta. It has three vaulted ceiling double bedrooms; the master bedroom includes super king-size bed, with en-suite. All the bedrooms are air conditioned meaning you can enjoy a good night sleep. The townhouse has an internal courtyard with large heated plunge-pool/Jacuzzi, great for relaxation during the midday sun or with a glass of wine at night. As the jacuzzi is heated it can be used any time of day, even in the summer many unheated pools in Malta are often too cold to use all day. The Mill room, a large vaulted ceilinged lounge, is one of the remaining few left in Malta. The Morning room, next to the kitchen, offers a relaxing space to enjoy breakfast. There is a bakers and patisserie just round the corner selling traditional maltese bread and pastries which make for a great cheap snack to take back to the house and enjoy round the jacuzzi.
This townhouse is packed full of history and features that date back many centuries, some foundation stones are even from the times of the Roman Empire. It is also within driving distance of local sandy beaches. A car is therefore recommended, but the buses in Rabat go to the main terminal in Valetta, allowing for travel across the island. A booklet will also be left inside the house, detailing places of interest as well as great dining establishments.

The Island of Malta region
Malta is an extremely historic island due to its location in the Mediterranean. Over the summer (end of May to September) the temperature is always hot, and pleasantly warm April to May, and October to November.
Rabat offers a number of impressive churches, with some of the oldest catacombs in the world. It also has many restaurants within walking distance of the house.
Rabat is next to Mdina, the "Silent City", with some impressive buildings and spectacular views. Mdina must be enjoyed both in the day and at night.
The main festivals in Rabat take place over Easter and the summer months and are impressive sights with fireworks and parades. These are great for all the family. In rabat many of the locals come together during the festivals to celebrate bringing the streets alive- a must see. Over christmas there are also many traditional festivities that take place.
Nearly all of the sandy beaches which are found in Malta are only a short drive away. Directions to which are to be found in the booklet left in the house.

"Lovely reasonably priced house, but needs a good clean"
As others have said this is a gorgeous traditional house in a great location. It is not really suitable for people with young children or people who are not very mobile due to its spiral staircase. To… More
Thank you for your review.
Apologies if you found a few items that needed a better cleaning job, we will let the cleaners know to be more careful with the items you mentioned, and unfortunately, we are not in Malta to supervise. There can sometimes be an odd smell in places remember this is a 500 year old building completely made of the local stone, which can be a bit porous, there is also a cave, water well and cellar below the ground floor and unfortunately when the house was built they didn't have damp proof courses. We have been told that for a traditional historic house ours is actually in very good order and actually very dry. Thank you for mentioning the spiral staircase its a great feature and as you stated means that the house is therefore not that suited for young children.

"Picturesque restored town house, perfect base for exploring Malta, let down by poor communication from the owner."
Positives: This is a beautiful large house, perfect for our family of 4. The courtyard was idealic with a refreshing jacuzzi to escape the heat of the day. It was a perfect base just outside of Mdina … More

"Wide house in a calm town"
La casa está situada en una zona muy tranquila. La casa es muy grande y bien equipada. Dispone de parking aunque justo al lado hay zona para poder aparcar fácilmente. Situada cerca de restaurantes y zona antigua de Mdina.

"Fantastic house but needs some TLC and general repair"
This property was fantastic, but...Lots of room for everyone to have their own space and it has a lovely relazed feel to it. It is even nicer than the pictures make it look. Lovely location and only a quick walk to the buses, which are cheap and provide an excellent means of seeing the whole island. We found restaunts cheap and plentiful. However there were a few points that we felt let the house down. Some are beyond the owners control- 1. The front of the house is very noisy by 7am, as all vehicles stop outside to load up and drop off. 2.The two outside courtyards are very small and can not fit 6 people eating out alltogether. Some things the owners can sort - 1. There was no hot water in the kitchen. The neighbour told us that this was an on going problem. 2. There were no instructions for the plunge-pool/Jacuzzi and although we turned on the heating in the garage and left it running for several hours the pool did not heat up. 3. There is no airconditioning in the down stairs bedroom. 4.The air conditioning in the other bedrooms was so loud it was hard to sleep ( similar to being outside during a gail). 5. Under the beds were dirty and had other peoples plasters etc under them. The bottom of both showers were stained and some electric plugs etc looked like they needed a good clean 6. The one bedroom had no shutters or proper curtains so was light by 6am. 7. Both showers had very limited water pressure and we had to hold the shower heads ( the shower head in the en-suite would only spray on to the wall if attached to the holder) 8. The dinning table seated 7, however there were not chairs at the correct hight for it (only 4). 9. There was little room in the bedrooms for our clothes, most wardrobes had spare sheets and winter bedding in and the draws and bedside tables still had other peoples things in. They looked like they had not been opened or used in a while. We therefore lived out of our cases. It would be nice to have had the bedrooms clear of personal items and cleaned out for use by guests 10. The iron made the electrics fuse and there was no hairdryer. It would have been nice to have a small freezer. 11. We tried to get the TV, Satellite TV working but could not and had to adjust the wires and conections to the projector to get any sound from it. 12. The basin in the downstairs toilet looked like it may come off at any moment and the main bed and down stairs bed made an awful noise when you rolled over in the night. The bed ion the main bedroom also had one of the uprights that was very lose, we tried unsucessfully toi tighten it.
However, we still loved the house.
