The Western Cape region

McGregor is situated in the Klein Karoo, so receives more sunshine, and less rain, than Cape Town. The soil and climate make it ideal for vineyards, and wine forms an important part of the local economy, as well as providing plenty of enjoyable opportunities for tasting and tours. Many of the festivals are linked to the seasons, such as the Harvest Festival, Apricot Festival, and the Wacky Wine weekend. The Slow Festival captures much of the essence of this area, taking time to do things properly, sourcing local fresh produce and getting to know your neighbours.

International guests compare the surroundings to Provence, Tuscany or the Napa Valley, but it has a character and smell that is unique.

McGregor

McGregor is a quaint village, saved from over-development by being on " the road to nowhere". Most of the homes are fairly small, many thatched and white-washed. The overall feel is of a turn of the century village, but of course with some modern changes.

Visitors come to relax, explore the natural surroundings, sip local wines or just to enjoy the open spaces and quiet. While doing nothing is perfectly acceptable, should you want to be more active, there are a wealth of hiking trails, from easy strolls to strenuous climbs, biking routes through the vineyards or over the mountains, 4x4 trails and plenty of backroads to explore.

A variety of restaurants take care of whatever you may fancy, shopping in McGregor is fairly limited, and the nearest mall is an hour away!

"Just what I needed!"

My stay at Kulamoya was just what I needed, the accommodation was beautifully presented and included everything I needed. All the little touches are what makes this place so special, complimentary fruit and port were much appreciated , the Bed was very comfortable and I slept really well each night. The garden is lovely and I so enjoyed sitting outside and just relaxing. Janet and Gordon couldn't have done more for me and catered to my every need and the breakfasts were divine!

Thank you for your kind comments. We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay with us and would love to welcome you back again at any time!

"Tranquil and Revitalising"

A truly wonderful long weekend of relaxing. This quiet cottage in McGregor was such a nice little break from crazy Cape Town.
And the food and atmosphere were excellent.

Thank you for your kind comments. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to hosting you again very soon!
