The Christ Church Parish region
The South coast of Barbados is renowned for its beautiful white sandy beaches and the blue Carbbiean sea. However, Barbados has much more to offer than just its beaches and lots of watersports.
Delightfuly, quiet coves are hidden away just waiting to be discovered by the adventurous. Both private and Botanical gardens, wildlife parks, and historic churches and monuments are of great interest.
Sugar cane and cotton plantations and the traditional making of "Mount Gay Rum". Horse-racing and Polo matches, local potteries and hand made jewellery can fill the days when you have thoroughly chilled out and are ready for sightseeing.
Maxwell area
Oistins Fish Festival is a regular Friday night feature and both Bajans and tourists flock to its open-air market and fish "cook-out" every Friday evening. This is a small fishing port, and anything from lobster to the local flying fish are served.
Close by is the delightful Miami Beach, where you can laze on the beach or shelter under the shade of the grape trees which grow on the beach, definitely worth a visit. The local bus can drop you off at these locations, and you will enjoy chatting to the locals en route.
How to get there
Ocean One is a stunning beachfront apartment located on the South Coast of the Island overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Located in the parish of Christ Church it is 9km from the international airport and 9km south of the main duty free shopping area of Bridgetown.
Next door to Bougainvillea Resort where there is more than one Restaurant, also Turtle Beach Resort and Almond Casuiarina Beach Resort also have restaurants open to the public - only two minutes walk down the beach, other Restaurants are in walking distance.
Situated within 5 minutes walk of an excellent bus route to all major parts of the island. Local shops and restaurants are to be found in the thriving St. Lawrence Gap, which is only a short walk down the beautiful sandy beaches.
A car can be hired locally on a daily basis to see other parts of the island. Three car rental firms are within a five minute walk.
Taxis are easily available and are very cheap. A taxi from the airport is recommended if you do not want to hire a car for the entire holiday (quite unnecessary) and then hire a car occasionally. Personal taxi driver can be recommended.
Bmi are excellent carriers and Virgin also have weekly flights to Barbados. Check with your local travel agent for other carriers and summer deals!

Maid service is available. Also, a lady is available to come in and cook a typical Bajan meal for you - highly recommended.
