Tregarthen is truly luxurious holiday house that will sleep ten. Located on the northern bank of the Helford River it offers an unparalleled location for those of you wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Situated in the sleepy village of Helford Passage, which quite literally sits on the bank of the river, you will feel like you have taken a step back in time. There is small beach about a minute from the house where you can relax all day or for the more active, hire a canoe and explore the rivers secret beaches and creeks. At the top of the beach is the Ferryboat Inn, a pub with over 300 years of history which serves some of the finest local produce in the area.

The view from all of the first floor rooms is simply breathtaking. The open plan living area is located upstairs, patio doors from the terrace lead into the comfortable sitting area with huge corner sofa, the dining table seats 8 in comfort while the sociable kitchen has a granite topped island, dishwasher, american style fridge freezer and range oven. Three bedrooms (2 double and one twin) each have patio doors which either open onto the wrap around balcony. From the comfort of your bed you will be able to watch the fishing boats and pleasure boats going about their business. The first floor bedrooms all have en-suites, the master bedrooms is of particular note as it has a massive walk-in shower and double marble basins. All of the en-suite rooms however, will provide guests with the elegance and comfort wanted on holiday.

The ground floor hosts another double bedroom and a twin room, perfect for children. There is a second sitting room which again has patio doors that look across Tregarthen's private outdoor swimming pool (available May - September) and large garden. This floor has 2 bathrooms and a utility room with washing machine tumble dryer and plenty of space to store and dry beach and sailing gear!

It is roughly fifteen minutes by car to the bustling port of Falmouth. The third naturally deepest harbour in the world (only Rio and Sydney can beat it!) it plays host to a multitude of nautical and food and drink festivals throughout the year. The National Maritime Museum is there and it boasts many fine eateries, pubs, bars, independent shops and cafes. Closer to the house are the truly splendid Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens. Both make the most of Cornwall's warmer weather, you can be sure you will see many types of foliage and flower rarely seen in the British Isles.

On a more practical note Tregarthen has plenty of parking, making it easily capable of accommodating numerous families or friends. There is a BBQ for long evenings of al-fresco dining and you will just find that everything you want is has been thought of and provided. It really is a dream property that will have you wishing you could stay forever.

One well-behaved small or medium sized well-behaved dog is welcome at Tregarthen.

The Cornwall region

Take the coastal path from Tregarthen to the sub-tropical gardens of Trebah, one of the most glorious gardens in Cornwall, or Glendurgan (NT) which is also within walking distance. The Helford river is popular for sailing and water sports, or head towards Gweek with its seal sanctuary, a most enchanting experience. Just a few minutes' drive leads to Maenporth beach with its white sands and delightful beach café. Other attractions nearby include Falmouth with its marina, National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle, and the cathedral city of Truro which offers a theatre, cinema, shops, bars and restaurants. The area is ideal for touring the Lizard Peninsula - the sheltered coves and beaches of South Cornwall or the rugged north coast which is popular with surfers. Shop 100 yards, pub 50 yards.
