BookThe Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Bouches-du-Rhone region
South of France sightseeing Provence Tours allow you to see as much of this great region of France. We can help you plan ahead for your Provence travel to get the most from your stay here.
Villa La Pinede is situated just a few minutes walk from the centre of the delightful Provencal village of Maussane Les Alpilles. Maussane has many delightful restaurants, shops and open air cafes around the main square with its historic church. There is an excellent weekly market on Thursdays in Maussane and every day at one of the neighbouring villages.
Provence is filled with ancient and medieval history including magnificent Roman remains at Glanum 10 minutes away between Maussane and St Remy and also at nearby Nimes, Arles, Orange and others including the well preserved Roman viaduct -the Pont du Gard. The Palace of the Popes at Avignon—and of course what’s left of the famous bridge—are well worth a visit.
Walking in the Alpilles on one of the many signed routes-especially recommended outside July and August. The Alpilles is being made into a National park with its centre at St Remy de Provence- 15 minutes away.
The Camargue and its superb beaches and wild-life are nearby.
Marseille and Montpellier are easily reached, so there is lots to see and do.
The Maussane les Alpilles area
In the heart of Provence Villa la Pinede can be found a short walk from the centre of Maussane les Alpilles yet hidden in its own private woodlands and grounds of 2 acres and great heated pool! Villa la Pinede is a superb base to allow to explore maussane Les Alpilles- or 'liittle Alps'- and this wonderful area of Provence-sometimes referred to as 'real' Provence.
Maussane les Alpilles is world famous for its olive oil- Mas des Barres receiving the accolade of best olive oil in the world in 2008. Maussane les Alpilles claims- along with the adjacent village of Mouries- to be the first commune to commercially produce olive oil not only of Provence but of France.

With magnificent views of the countryside of Provence Villa la Pinede provides a quiet relaxing location yet only a 2 minutes walk to the High Street of Maussane les Alpilles- a typical village of Provence- and the first of many excellent restaurants, shops and open air cafés and the village square just a few minutes stroll further on with wonderful fountains and old Church.
The Maussane les Alpilles market is a very popular event each Thursday morning with lots of fresh local produce and crafts and again just a few minutes walk from your conveniently situated Provence villa-La Pinede
The castle turrets of Les Baux de Provence can be seen from Villa la Pinede private woodlands and staying here is a convenient option to central Les Baux hotels. We are also just 10 minutes from Glanum- one of largest remains of a Roman town outside Italy.
Les Baux de Provence is one of the most visited places outside Paris and an early weekday visit advisable! we can take you the short 8-10 minute journey to Les Baux de provence and pick you up later in the day. At the weekend in summer, you can see hundreds of parked cars twisting down the mountain road towards Maussane!
A visit to the Cathedrale des Images 300 metres from Les Baux de Provence is also on our tour and a good place to visit on a hot day! You need some warm clothing even in August as the 'son et lumiere' exposition is in a huge cathedral sized underground series of caverns- once a Provence stone quarry. 2009 is Picasso and it is a breath-taking experience!

I travelled to Avignon TGV via Lille. A relaxed and easy journey. I was met at Avignon TGV by Nick one of the villa's hosts. He was waiting for me on arrival. Having stayed twice in 2012 both early and late season, I was quite familiar with the Villa. As usual I was warmly welcomed by David and Nick. This time, I part self catered. I took the Van Gogh suite. Two rooms both en-suite. In the more than adequate kitchen, There is plenty of kitchen equipment. Cutlery China and Saucepans etc. A fridge freezer. Microwave and double hob. Outside is a self contained balcony with tables, chairs and arm chairs etc. Heaters in both rooms if required. Constant hot water to both the showers, sinks and kitchen sink. The rooms are clean and well decorated with particular themes eg Painters. mine being the Van Gogh suite. I have stayed in two other rooms there in 2012. Both were as comfortable and enjoyable. David is the Chef at the villa. The food is as good as anywhere I've ever stayed. Attention to guests dietary requirements are noted. Breakfast, if required is a feast in itself. fresh French stick, Hot Croissants and various home made jams and local produce. Including some superb home made bread. The pool is large, heated and kept exceptionally clean by Nick and his helper, a Robo-cleaner that wanders around the pool doing its job. It's a non-chlorine or salt pool. Cleaned by electrolysis. A real bonus in my stay at the villa. It's like swimming in fresh water. Plenty of poolside furniture too. The town is a mere ten minute walk and is delightful. Plenty of restaurants and cafe's. I am coming to stay again in September 2013 for a couple more weeks. That's how good it is. I can't recommend this holiday villa more highly than 10/10 There is nothing I could complain about, except having to go back home at the end of my stay! |
