Welcome to our home from home! Our top floor, superior apartment has a private terrace overlooking the sea and modern facilities throughout - making your stay in Tavira relaxing and comfortable and perfect base to explore the Eastern Algarve and southwest Spain. Our apartment has central air conditioning and heating, a shared swimming pool, 32 '' LCD TV with access to some Portuguese and some English speaking channels,Ipod docking station, the apartment has unlimited WiFi and modern furnishings. We have a beautifully appointed kitchen with granite work surfaces, quality modern appliances including a Nespresso coffee machine and a full range of crockery / cooking utensils. There are marble floors throughtout with marble walls in the kitchen and bathroom too. Lift access will take you from the underground parking area to the front door. Above the apartment, you also have access to a large private roof terrace area which receives sunshine until the sun goes down where you can relax and watch fabulous sun sets, with built in barbecue and quality garden furniture. In the 1960s the Algarve became a very popular destination for tourists, mainly from Britain. It has since become a common destination for Germans, Dutch and Irish people. Many of these tourists own their own property in the region. There are Algarve-based English-written publications and newspapers specifically addressed to this community. In addition to the natural beauties and plenty of beaches, the Algarve has invested in the creation of a network of golf courses. Well-known beaches in the Algarve range from Praia da Marinha to Armacao de Pera. A well known spa town is Caldas de Monchique. The Algarve is a popular destination for tourism, primarily because of its beaches, Mediterranean climate, safety, cuisine and relatively low costs. Algarve's mild climate has attracted interest from Northern Europeans wishing to have a holiday home or residence in the region. Being a region of Portugal, and therefore in the European Union, any EU citizen has the right to freely buy property and reside with little formality in the Algarve. British expatriates, followed by German, Dutch and Scandinavians, are among the largest groups wishing to own a home in this sunny region of Portugal. Tourism plays an important role in the economy of the Algarve. A large number of seasonal job opportunities are tourism-related and are fulfilled by thousands of immigrant workers from countries like Brazil, Ukraine and Cape Verde, among others. In March 2007, the Minister of Economy, Manuel Pinho, announced the creation of the "Allgarve" brand, as a part of a strategical promotion of the Algarve as a tourism destination for foreign citizens.

The Tavira / Conceicao area
The city has since been rebuilt with many fine 18th century buildings along with its 37 churches. A 'Roman' (actually Moorish) bridge links the two parts of the town across the River Gilao. The church of Santa Maria do Castelo, built on the site of a Moorish mosque, holds the tombs of Dom Paio Peres Correia and his knights. The church dates from the 13th century and the clock tower has been remodeled from the original Muslim minaret. A bust of Dom Paio Perres Correia who died in 1275 can be seen on the corner of the town hall. Its original economic reliance on the fishing industry has now passed due to changed migration patterns of Tuna and further silting up of the river Gilao. The population is in the region of 25,000 inhabitants (municipality of Tavira) supporting a military base whilst the surrounding area is still fairly rural and undeveloped. This is now changing due to the demands of the tourist industry and opening of golf courses in the near vicinity. The beach for this town lies past the salt pans and is reached by a ferryboat that takes the visitor to the sand-bar island known as Ilha de Tavira, part of the Ria Formosa. The island and beaches can also be reached from the nearby footbridge in Santa Luzia. In recent years the architecturally attractive town has attracted visitors and house prices have increased sharply. The development of many golf clubs close to the town has also had an effect.

"The perfect spot to enjoy some peaceful sun on the Algarve"
The apartment is in a quite suburb but within walking distance of the pretty fishing town of Tavira. Travelling with a friend, the highlights for us were being able to soak up the sun on the secluded roof terrace and enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony of an evening. The apartment is modern, spacious and stylish with all the amenities you could need during your stay. Tavira itself is a beautiful town with plenty to see and do and lots of restaurants serving a wide range of cuisines. En route to Tavira there is also a good sized shopping mall where it is easy to while away a couple of hours. A trip on one of the ferries across to the island is recommended with an expanse of beautiful beach to enjoy and a good choice of beach front restaurants where you can enjoy a meal or a cocktail or two, whilst watching the sun set. Overall, this is the perfect spot for couples or friends to chill out and explore the local area. We managed perfectly well without a car for our few days stay, although car hire might be a good idea for longer stays so that you can venture further afield if you want to.

"The most fabulous appartment to spend a relaxing holiday"
The appartment was fantastic. Spacious, spotless, comfortable and peaceful where we could relax and very well equipped as stated in the quide but simply much much more. Our holiday was made so easy from booking to being met at the appartment (at 1.00am!) and shown round. The roof terrace was were we spent a lot of our time. It was so peaceful up there with wonderful views over the coast and cooling breezes when needed! We also used the pool which was always clean and quiet. Everything about our stay was just so special. The most wonderful appartment to spend a holiday being close enough to the beaches and Tavira town to visit without having the noise and bustle.

"Relaxing stay in a lovely apartment"
We have stayed at this apartment on 3 occasions, which is a good recommendation. It is beautifully furnished and presented. It would be wonderful for honeymoon couples to sit on the roof terrace and watch the sun go down, as it is very private with a comfortable sofa. The nearby estuaries still attract fishermen who sell their fish at the local market and restaurants. We will definately be going again in the future. There are many nice beaches within a 10 min. car drive.

"Fabulous luxurious living in great location"
We stayed at this fabulous apartment last June to relax and indulge ourselves not having had a ‘sun’ holiday for a number of years. We had everything that we needed, the accommodation was spacious and of the highest quality and the private roof terrace was perfect for outdoor living encompassing great views. Immediately close by there was a cafe/restaurant, coffee shop, bar. Tavira was delightful and full of surprises from its Roman architecture to castle, shops and ferry boat to the beaches of Tavira Island; the cosmopolitan atmosphere along the river front contrasted the quaint and romantic restaurants waiting to be discovered in the side streets in the old quarter. We plan to return and explore further it was great location.

"A little piece of heaven"
A fabulous stay in Tavira in a beautiful apartment which is comfortable but maintains a high standard of accomodation with a lovely private roof terrace. The apartment has lovely pool area and balcony to soak up the sun and the views. The location is great with several local restaurants and shops and is a five minute drive to town with easy free parking. The apartment had everything I needed for my girlie trip and would recommend it highly.

"Fabulous apartment with roof terrace."
What a fantastic holiday we had in this spacious apartment. As soon as we walked in we felt in holiday mode, so clean,so modern and well equipped yet very comfortable and relaxed. The roof terrace with built in bbq and outdoor furniture is the "icing on the cake" where we were able to spend many happy hours soaking up the sun and occasionally braving the communal pool to cool off. I'm pleased we hired a car as there were so many places to visit, restaurants to taste and of course the supermarket shopping but the local taxi service is excellent for venturing out in the evening. Look forward to a revisit.
