The Heart of England / Peak District / Peak District/Derbyshire region
The Peak District is in the heart of England and is Englands oldest national Park.The Peak District has some of England's finest climbing, cycling, walking and caving with spectacular limestone scenery.
The Tissington and High Peak trail are great cycle/walking routes running through the Peak district.
It also has several historic houses such as Chatsworth , Hardwick and Haddon hall which are often used as film locations.
Bakewell is famous for its puddings, Buxton for its opera house and gardens.Eyam is famous for its self-inflicted quarantine during the Black Death in 1666 with a museum and walk around the village detailing the history.Carsington water on the edge of the Peak district has water sport facilities.
The Matlock area
Matlock is a small town at the gateway to the Peak District.Matlock has a large Edwardian park with a boating lake, children's play area, public tennis courts and miniature railaway.
Matlock Bath is famous for the cable cars which run to the Heights of Abraham plus all the Harley-Davidsons which congregate on Sundays.
For children a day out at Gulliver's Kingdom in Matlock Bath is highly reccomended.Crich tramway museum is also closeby.
Matlock Bath's illuminations and Venetian nights run from the end of august to October.
Chatsworth House has lots events throughout the year through to christmas for their christmas fairs and annual decorations.Haddon hall and Chatsworth have been used in several films such as "Pride and Prejudice".
