The Heart of England/Peak District

Derbyshire. The Peak District.

After a busy day exploring The Peak District or perhaps you have been relaxing on site at Derbyshire Outdoors you must visit three of the best pubs in Derbyshire. Peter, the owner thinks they are probably three of the best in the country! All are about fifteen minutes drive away. You could even walk, cycle or catch a bus.

Ye Olde Gate Inne, Brassington. Real ales, open fires and excellent food. Not open Mondays or Tuesday lunchtime.

The Barley Mow, Kirk Ireton. Real ales from barrels behind the bar. Open fires, food lunchtimes only.

The Hollybush, Makeney, Belper. Real ales from the jug, open fires and great food.

"Lovely Yurt holiday"

"Not the best value"

In Mongolia I bemoaned the fact that even in the middle of the Gobi dessert, the yurts were equipped with electricity, ant the camps had hot and cold water and showers, and flushing toilets. In Derbys… More

"Unique but poor value"

This is potentially a wonderful letting but I got wrong impression from advert. The Yurt is cozy with fire lit but dampish without - maybe due to setting right next to stream. Not well set up for s… More

"Perfect Getaway"

Myself and my partner spent two nights here in June and found it to be absolutely fantastic.

The Yurt is in a nice secluded location but still within walking distance of nearby Wirksworth with the added bonus for walkers of having the scenic Carsington Waters nearby.

Peter who owns the Yurt is a great guy, really helpful! He took time to show us around and how to use the woodburner. Firewood is included in the stay along with tea lights to light the hut during the nights.

We had a fantastic time and cannot wait to go and stay again.
