The Heart of England/Peak District

The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Matlock

The lovely village of Crich has a number of shops and public houses and more recently was the location for 'Cardale' in the TV series “Peak Practice.” The village is home to the National Tramway Museum, and trams move along the valley, making this an unusual way to see the stunning views. To see other spectacular views a cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham near Matlock is a necessity. At the top, there are many more attractions to be enjoyed, from an owl maze to water gardens. There are many impressive stately homes and halls in the area; Chatsworth House and Park with its garden centre and farm shop are worth a visit as is Haddon Hall. The village is an ideal base for a holiday in this lovely area.
