The Heart of England/Peak District

The ultimate in “year-round” appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

Matlock

The conservation village of Bonsall is located at the heart of the Derbyshire Dales, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The village is named in the Domesday Book, with a history dating back to Roman times. The Barley Mow pub offers the World Hen Racing Championship's, which is held on the first Saturday every August. The village holds Open Gardens in June and a horticultural show in September. Great walks can be enjoyed on The Limestone Way, which passes through the village and on the High Peak and Tissington trails, which are nearby. Matlock is 4 miles away, and offers shops, good restaurants and Hall Leys Park. Visit The Heights of Abraham, Chatsworth House or the market town of Bakewell.
